While the 7th Grade Blue team did not finish with a record they hoped for, there is no shortage of talent or desire in the group of kids. Each and every game the coaches had the players ready and fighting until the very end. A few plays made the differences in the win and loss column, but the Staley boys got better and better as the season went on, always gave it their all and played with great Mustang spirit and sportsmanship, they build their character and learned the values of hard work and persistence. As always, it is my privilege and pleasure to be down on the sidelines not only capturing the action, but watching and cheering on these upstanding Staley athletes. I spent the year photographing many, many events for Staley Middle School and Frisco High School. Over a hundred and sixty galleries and forty thousand pictures and counting. That is a lot of events--and I enjoyed each and every one. I am so fortunate to be asked to be on the sidelines or field to photograph these outstanding young men and women at these two schools. I am very blessed to be associated, not only with these two schools, but the entire Frisco district. This is a district full of gifted athletes, dedicated and caring coaches, and fabulous parents. I love seeing the interaction of team mates, coaches, and even players from opposing teams. Frisco has that small town feel, where every one seems to know each other. I have seen the friendships between players from "rival" schools, I have seen them cheer each other on, and hug each other after games, no matter who wins, it heart warming to see. I love seeing our "Staley" kids interact after they have gone on to the different high schools.
I love photographing sports--the action, the emotion. I love capturing that split second of the ball in the air, the player making the play--the catches, hits and touchdowns of football, the player breaking through the line; going up for the catch; making the hit to stop the play. The hits, blocks and spikes of volleyball. The kicks, headers, goals and saves of soccer. The all out speed of sprints in track, the endurance of cross country, and the jumps of the field events. I love the intensity of the play, the emotions of the game. I love catching that micro second of the play--a moment of success for the player. I love capturing that all to fleeting moment in these young athletes lives.
The best part, my favorite part of photographing sports is getting to know and interacting with these fabulous young men and ladies. I LOVE it!! I Love meeting the parents, I may not have otherwise had the opportunity to meet. I am so blessed to meet awesome students, coaches, and parents.
So many events, so many memories--some of my favorite moments of the year have to do with the emotion of the game, not necessarily the final score or outcome. Although, I ALWAYS want Staley and Frisco to win, as these two schools have my heart. Through every moment of every game, match, meet and event, I am emotionally invested. I love capturing the emotion, of the game because that is what we feel, what we remember. It is what I am feeling, what every parent, coach and player is feeling. I have been know to shed a tears on the sidelines: for the intensity, the excitement, the joy, and the heartbreak. I said it last year, and it remains true--I have loved every single moment and would do it again in a heartbeat.
Once again, I wish I could have captured more--more Staley girl's volleyball, basketball and soccer. More Frisco High School events--softball, boy's soccer and basketball. As a parent, I know I have loved watching my children play. It has been an emotional year, as my son has finished up his career at Staley, so I experienced a lot of those "last" moments, as he will not play all those sports as he moves on to high school. I have loved capturing moments during his athletic events, as well as my daughter's at Frisco High. These are special moments that I will forever treasure. I hope that I have been able to capture some special moments for other parents. A heartfelt thank you to all the coaches who alway making me feel welcome.
To the Frisco High School and Staley Middle School athletes, it is an honor and privilege to watch, photograph and get to know you, you are all awesome and have made my year absolutely fabulous.
To the Staley 8th graders-- I will miss seeing you all the time, but wish you the best of luck as you move on to high school and will always be cheering for you.
To the Staley 7th graders--I look forward to seeing you all next year!
To all the parents, you have fabulous kids, they impress and amaze me, you should all be so very proud. Thank you for all your support and patience. I promise to continue to work on all the sports photos and get them posted up to the galleries.
Thanks for the memories!!

]]>The Staley Mustangs 7th Grade boys also played Friday night, taking a 3-1 win over Roach, giving them the opportunity to play on Saturday. The Mustangs took on the Pioneer Panthers in the first game. The Staley boys played awesome. The Mustangs and the Panthers were pretty evenly matched as they battled to a 0-0 tie at the half. The Mustangs came out aggressively in the second half, putting pressure on the Pioneer defense. Staley's keeper, Jake made some outstanding saves along the way to keep the Panthers scoreless. Both teams saw a defensive struggle with each team collecting a few shots on goal, but denied by the opposing goalie. The game remained scoreless and went to penalty kicks. Despite a valiant effort, the Mustangs lost to the Panthers 4-1 on penalty kicks, sending them to the bronze medal game, as opposed to the championship game. The Pioneer Panthers eventually won the District Tournament, but the Mustangs certainly played them tough and did not make it an easy road.
The Mustangs played the Hunt Huskies in the bronze medal game. The Huskies took and early 3-0 lead. The Mustangs came back in the second half and scored quickly, closing the gap 3-1. The Mustangs played with fight and intensity the entire match, keeping the Huskies in check until just after the half way mark of the second half, as the Huskies sailed one into the net. The Mustangs played steady, but the offense could not get one past the keeper. The Huskies put another on the scoreboard with six and half minutes left. The Mustangs continued to fight and finally put one in the net with three minutes left in the game. The game finished with the score in favor of the Huskies: 5-2. The Mustangs gave a lot of effort, playing tough. They had a great season finishing fourth in the District. Great job, Mustangs!!
Not to be left out, the Staley Lady Mustangs 8th Graders played in the District Tournament also. They played strong Friday night, but Stafford came out on top 1-0. I missed seeing the girls play this season, I wished I could have made a game. Great job ladies!! Way to go Staley!!

The 8th grade boys played great, scoring first when Trent booted one into the back of the net. Fowler scored one to tie it up a few minutes later. The Mustangs added one more with 22 seconds left in the half as Austin kicked one in. The Mustangs fought hard the second half, but could not get one past Folwer's keeper. Fowler tied the game when their player tapped the ball in off a corner kick. The rest of the game had several attempts by both teams. The Staley fans thought they had one more, when Austin kick one, and it came off the hands of the goalie and it looked like Travis was going to be able to kick it in, but it hit the side of the net. The game ended in a 2-2 tie, and the game was decided on Penalty Kicks. The Mustangs did a great job, but it was not meant to be as they fell 7-5. The Mustang teams played tough and determined. Way to go boys!! Stay strong! Good Luck next week.

These young men and women put forth an amazing effort, not only last night, but all season long. These athletes pushed themselves in the pursuit of their goals, and certainly had success. ]]>I am not sure how our Mustangs did overall, there were quite a few teams at the meet and it was difficult to discern the final placings from my vantage point, and I did not hear any announcement throughout the night either.
What I do know is that all the athletes went out and put forth their best effort. Each of the young athletes were strong, determined and focused. These young men and women should be proud of their accomplishments and successes. Their success should not be always be determined by a place, a time or a number, but instead by their effort, dedication, and sportsmanship. Great job, Mustangs!!

She loves playing soccer, but even more so LOVES being part of the team. She loves being a Lady Raccoon, the environment and the friends she has made, and this will be a tough decision. But I have faith that she will make the decision that is right for her.
As she took the field tonight, I was awash in all the memories of seeing her on the soccer fields over the years. I have been on the sidelines for most of those games, through nine years, I have enjoyed watching her play the game she loves. She has had great coaches over the years to make her the soccer player she is today. Katie always goes out on the field and gives her team mates 110%, playing hard, trying her best. She plays with determination and focus. She plays with heart. If she decides not to play next year, I know that she has enjoyed the last two years as a Lady Raccoons and leaves with many great memories.
For me, of course there are memories, moments that will stand out. Her first game, last year and now the last game this year. Her goal against Wakeland last year, her two goals scored against Hockaday this year, a multitude of great kicks and awesome headers. The hugs between friends, team mates and even opponents. It always warms my heart after playing Wakeland High School and seeing her hug her friends on the other team. However, beyond that, what I will remember is how my daughter is a team player, she plays with all her heart and never wants to let her team mates down. She is such a great sportsman: respectful of everyone on the field, the first to help out or offer a hand with whatever is needed. THAT is what I am most proud of her for, more than any plays or goals.
Thanks for the memories Katie, I love you and am so proud of you.

The Lady Raccoons played against the wind in the second half and still dominated the game. The defense played tough, keeping Liberty out of the net. The offense kept pressing and have several shots on goal with some just missing the mark. Liberty tried to tie the game late, but Frisco held, and took the 2-1 victory.
All in all it was a great season for these girls, ending with a overall record of 11-6-1 and a District record of 5-3. The Frisco's goalies, Sasha and McKenzie each had a stellar season at the net. The defenders let little through, playing determine and tough to help the team with several shut out victories. The mid-fielders and front line played awesome all season, controlling the pace of the games and keeping the offensive strong. All the players fill their roles and played well giving the Lady Raccoons a solid team on the field at all times.
I always enjoy being on the sideline watching and photographing these young ladies. Great job Lady Raccoons!! Congratulations on a fabulous season.

]]>The second half saw both teams step it up. Frisco did not want to lose the lead, and Wakeland wanted to even up the score, at the very least. Frisco came out on fire, not just protecting the lead, but going full force, controlling the ball, and the game; they outshot and out played Wakeland in both halves. The game was physical, like always when these two team meet, pulling on jerseys, pushing and tripping. Both teams were called for fouls, but Wakeland was dealt a yellow card when a Wakeland player outright shoved one of the Frisco's players down. Frisco scored again six minutes into the half when Jordan headed in Janie's free kick into the goal. Frisco 4, Wakeland 1. Frisco turned over goal keeping duties from Victoria to Shelby at the sixty minute mark, and up 4-1. Shelby making an outstanding save after a collision with a Wakeland player. Both keepers played fantastic games, not having to deal with that many shots, but proving invaluable when needed, keeping Wakeland scoreless in the second half. Frisco's final goal came from Blair, who took a pass from Jordan and went one on one with the goalie, and kicked it right past her into the net. Frisco had an insurmountable 5-1 lead with less than four minutes to play. The Frisco players continued to play smart and tough until the final tick on the clock. Frisco played a dominate, exciting game giving the home crowd a long awaited, well deserved, convincing 5-1 victory against the cross town rival and tough opponent. This game will go down as one of the best games in the Lady Raccoons recent history. Congratulations Lady Raccoons on a stellar game!!

]]>Shout out to all the parents who came out in the freezing cold temperatures to cheer on our Staley Mustangs!! Way to be strong!
On a side note, I want to issue a blanket apology, I do not always know (hear) the final results, especially ones with heats, and I do not know all the kids name and grades, so any oversights are completely unintentional. I will be trying to get different field events in the next couple of meets, so if you have any requests, please let me know, and I will be happy to try to accommodate! As always, I love being out there photographing and cheering on these young athletes, thanks for your support!!
]]>The Lady Raccoons played aggressively in the second half, keeping the ball on their side of the field 90% of the time, keeping the Lady Coyotes' defense and goalie on their toes. Frisco's Lady Raccoons scored again when Audrey passed the ball out to a group of Lady Raccoons and it was kicked in for the score. The Lady Raccoons dominated the game and the final goal came from Taylor when she redirected Brittney's corner kick into the goal. The Lady Raccoon's goalies only had to make four saves all night. A great game by the Lady Raccoons!!
A shout out the the Lady Raccoon's Varsity team who rolled past the Heritage Lady Coyotes 8-0. Way to go, Frisco!!

]]>The Frisco JV game proved to be a tough battle. The Frisco JV team came out fired up for Tuesday night's game. These girls brought their "no quit" attitude against a powerhouse opponent. These two teams played a spirited, physical game. Frisco's defense shut the door on many potential threats. Frisco's tough defense and keeper kept the Lady Wolverines scoreless until late in the first half. Wakeland took a 1-0 lead to the half. The Lady Wolverines added another goal early in the second half to take a 2-0 lead. Despite the great effort and strong attacks by the Lady Raccoons' offense, they could not get one into the net. Great defense had the rest of the half being scoreless, resulting in a hard fought 2-0 loss for the Lady Raccoons. All in all, a great game by this young Lady Raccoons team!! Way to play tough, girls!!
Frisco Lady Raccoons Varsity played awesome, let there be no doubt about that. Through 78 minutes of soccer Frisco dominated the game, they controlled the game for extended periods of time. The game was scoreless at the half. Frisco put the first score on the board when Maddie took a pass from Kaitlyn, out maneuvered a defender to kick it just past the goalie, with just under 18 minutes left to play in the game. The rest of the game had it looking like Frisco was well on its way to winning this game in regulation. But it was not meant to be. Wakeland got the ball down on their end of the field, and as Frisco keeper, Victoria, came out to grab the ball, she and the defender got tangled up and the ball just rolled past her into the goal, with 1:45 left in the game. Frisco put forth a great effort in getting the ball back down the field, and as the buzzer sounder, Blair took a shot on goal, but it sailed wide. End of Regulation had the scored tied at one. It was going to a shoot out. Frisco and Wakeland each put two PK's in. Victoria guessed right on the third shot of the shootout, and made a great save. However, on the next Frisco PK kick, Wakeland's goalie also made a save to keep it tied. The next two PK's went in for both teams, then Wakeland sent out it's sixth player, who kicked the ball into the net. The same would not happen for Frisco, as their kick sailed just over the crossbar, giving Wakeland the win, on PK shoot out 5 -4. Although the score indicates that Frisco came up just short, what should not be forgotten is how Frisco out played Wakeland, the defending District Champs, on its home turf. The post game scene was somber for Frisco, and I am sure no words can take out the sting of this heartbreaking loss. These girls should hold their heads high, they are strong, they are tough and they are good!! Great job Lady Raccoons!

Frisco Varsity Game.
]]>The 7th Grade Boys C Team played tough against the Huskies keeping it close most of the game, the scored was tied 14 all mid way through the third period. But then the Huskies made a couple of baskets, when nothing was falling for the Mustangs, to take a 20-15 lead at the end of the third period. The Huskies had all the moment in the fourth period and put the game away. The Mustangs fought hard, and put a couple more points on the board, but the victory went to Hunt.
The game of the night went the to 8th Grade C Team. This team has a collection of thrilling games. The game started out rough the Mustangs. It looked like it might be a blow out in favor of the Huskies as they took a 14-4 lead going in to half time. The highlight of the first half, was when Gavin toss the ball to Jace and he immediately took the jump shot and swished it through. The cheer from the crowd was heartwarming. Unfortunately the ref called no basket, because of a traveling call. Nonetheless, nothing can erase the cheers and heartwarming congratulations of his team mates. Despite being down by ten, what you have to love about all our Staley Mustangs is the spirit, determination and perseverance of these boys. The Mustangs switched things up in the second half and dug deep. The defense really stepped it up and put on the pressure, and the offense rallied to make up the 10 point half-time deficit. The Mustangs got things started right off the bat when #10 took the inbounds and passed out to #33 who made the three point jump shot to get the score to Hunt 14-Staley 7. Staley put the ball up a couple more times but the ball would not fall in. The Huskies seem to be having the same dilemma, they also took several shot, before they got a goal to go up 16-7. Number ten took the ball up court and toss the ball to #33 who, once again, made the three point jump shot: Hunt 16- Mustangs 10. The Huskies got the ball back and took quite a few shots, but the Mustangs finally got the rebound back down court, and #10 passed to #15, who made the lay up to bring the Mustangs within four, with 2:45 left in the third period. The score stayed Hunt 16 - Staley 12 until midway through the final period when #22 got a rebound from #33 shot and it sank through the net. Seconds later, #10 rebounded from the Huskies shot, took a couple of dribbles and passed it far down the court to #15 who made the lay up to tie the game at 16 all. In the final minute, it was an all out battle. Staley's #25 got the rebound on Hunt's shot, passed to #1, who passed to #33 who took the shot, missed, but got the rebound and put it up for two. The Mustangs were ahead 18-16 with 55 seconds left. After a time out, the Huskies inbound and took it down the court, several passes and three shots and rebounds, finally found them finding the net with 14 seconds left. The game was tied at 18. The Mustangs inbounded the ball, made it down court and three shots were taken. A foul on #22 during the final shot, had him coming to the net. Unfortunately, neither shot went through the net. the Mustangs got the rebound and took one last shot, but that bounced off the backboard, out of bounds. End of regulation, all tied up at 18, it was headed to a 3 minute overtime show down. The overtime period was a defensive battle with no score for the two minutes. Finally after numerous shots, and missed free throws by both the Mustangs and Huskies, Staley's #22 went for the shot and drew a foul. The first free throw went through, and then #22 got a rebounded to get the basket and was fouled again. Again, he made the first shot and the Mustangs were up 22-18 with 50 seconds left. The Huskies took it up the court, and were fouled and he missed, but the Mustangs knocked the ball out of bounds, so Hunt inbound and passed to a player who made the three point jump to bring the Huskies within one. A miscue by the Mustangs could have been costly, but the defense stayed tough and kept the pressure on as the seconds ticked off the clock to zero. The Mustangs made a HUGE come back to take the victory in their last game as Staley Mustangs!!! Congratulations on an AWESOME victory!!!
The 7th Grade B Team had a heart breaking loss in the final seconds. The Staley boys played hard the entire game, which was very close. Ahead 26-23, the Huskies made a basket and a free throw to tie it up with 12 seconds left. Another free throw made with 5 seconds left, put them ahead. The Mustangs inbounded the ball, and a valiant effort by the team was made, and #24 toss up a shot, after a fall, as the buzzer sounded. The ball fell short and the Huskies snagged a victory. All in all a great game and season by this young team!! Great job Mustangs.
The 8th Grade B Team had a rough night. It seemed, absolutely nothing would fall for the Mustangs. Shot after shot, hit just outside the basket. As always these boys play hard, give it their best, and are fun to watch. I just wish they could have gotten another win.
The 7th Grade A Team played a good game, put up the shots and keeping it pretty close until the end of the third period. Down by four 28-24, the momentum shifted to the Huskies as they made two more quick baskets. The Mustangs fought hard but could not make up the ground. The Huskies got the victory 48-36.
The 8th Grade A team put on a show for the crowd in their final game as Staley Mustangs!! Hunt kept it close until the first period at 7-6, but then the Mustangs turned it on. Baskets by #25, #53, #11 and #23 had the score skyrocket to 24-12 midway through the second period. More baskets by #13, #14 and #51 had the Mustangs up 29-17 at the half. A three foot jumper by #2 and shots by #5 and crew had the Mustangs cruise to a 53-33 victory!! Congratulations on a fantastic win!! Way to go Mustangs.!!

]]>The JV team also looked great last night. The Lady Raccoons came out ready to win. Frisco chalked up their second victory in district blanking the Lady Coyotes 3-0. The first goal came off a pass from Audrey out to the near sideline to Lauren who booted it right into the goal from ten yards out, after ten minutes of play. The Lady Raccoons continued to play strong on both offense and defense to take a 1-0 lead to the half. The Lady Raccoons came out and played a fantastic second half. Frisco JV, just like Varsity, kept the ball on their side of the field for almost all of the second half. Frisco's goalie, did not touch the ball at all in the second half. The Lady Raccoons scored their second goal when Brittany nailed the ball into the goal on assist from Audrey. The third goal was scored when Taylor got a pass from Lauren and kicked it toward the goal, and it just rolled past the goalie. The Lady Raccoons played the last five minutes strong to preserve the shut out, 3-0. Congratulations on a great game!!
Here are some images of the night.
]]>The JV Girls played a nail biter, that had the fans on the edge of their seats. The Lady Raccoons played strong and tough, and the Lady Redhawks were giving it all they had. The Raccoons were doing a pretty good job of keeping it on their side of the field, a break away by a Lady Redhawk had them take a shot on goal and the Frisco keeper making a save and sending it back down field. The Lady Raccoons made the most of it. Brittany took a sideline pass from Nicole and booted it to the goal, it bounced off the post and Audrey played it perfectly, kicking the ball into the back of the net for the score. Frisco took the lead 1-0 after ten minutes of play. The Lady Raccoons worked hard and limited the Lady Redhawks to their shots on goal, but a pass up the field, had a Liberty player get one past the keeper to tie it up with seven minutes left to play in the half. With a minute left in the half, Lauren took the ball down the sideline, crossed it to the center where Audrey had to fight off a defender, she passed out to Dahnie who took the shot on goal. It was successfully defended, but Frisco got a corner kick with less than 20 seconds on the clock. Brittany sailed the corner kick toward her teammates and Taylor kicked it in the goal. Frisco took a 2-1 lead to the half time break.
The Lady Raccoons came out strong in the second half, but it was an all out defensive battle. The entire team played hard and well together, from the forwards to mid-fielders to the defenders. The Lady Raccoons had several shots on goals, but could not get one in the net. The defense played stellar, and an excellent save by Alta showed that the defense was up to the task in keeping the Lady Redhawks off the scoreboard. Although, the game was close, the Lady Raccoons put in a solid performance to get a district win, Frisco 2-Liberty 1. Great Job Ladies!!
The Lady Raccoons Varsity Squad had an easier time with the Lady Redhawks. Frisco's first score came in the 23rd minute of play, when Maddie dribbled the ball down the field, and past the keeper, who came out to defend, and nailed the ball into the goal. The Lady Raccoons played solidly for the remainder of the half, and with just seconds left on the clock, Jordan passed the ball out to Maddie on the far sideline, who took it the short distance and sailed the ball to net, it was deflected and Jordan tapped it in for what the Frisco fans thought was a sure goal. However, the ref ruled the score did not count as it was tapped in after the buzzer. Frisco took the 1-0 lead to the half.
The second half had the Lady Raccoons fired up and ready. The second score started with the familiar site of Maddie taking the ball down the sideline, she crossed it to the center where Jordan, surrounded by two defenders and goalie, booted it in for a 2-0 Frisco lead with less than eight minutes ticked off in the second half. Frisco continued the pressure, when Janie got a free kick perfectly to her teammates. Jordan leaped up and headed the ball into the goal. Perfectly played!! The Lady Raccoons had some breathing room with a 3-0 lead with thirty minutes left to play. Frisco continued to flex their muscle with several more shots on goal, the final goal coming as Blair hammered a shot past three defenders. Frisco played strong and smart to finish out the last thirteen minutes of play to preserve the shut out and take the victory, starting off 1-0 in district play. Congratulations Lady Raccoons on a fantastic victory!
Here some images from the JV Game.

]]>The JV girls played a fantastic game. They dominated the entire game. The first goal was scored by Taylor, she kicked the ball past a couple defenders and goalie right to the back of the net. The second goal was a penalty kick for tripping and Audrey rocketed into the goal from about 10 yards out, with just under twenty minutes left to play in the first half. Taylor nailed another ball into the goal for the third score. Kendall headed the ball into the net off a corner kick from Brittany with just over eight minutes left. The fifth goal came with about four minutes left in the half, a pass from Taylor to Riley, who immediately passed it across the field to Aubrey who took the shot and got it passed the goalie. The Lady Raccoons took a 5-0 lead to the break. The Lady Raccoons continued to dominated the second half, taking many shots on goal. The final score came on a penalty kick, which Lauren booted into the back of the net. The girls looked great, and played awesome to get a 6-0 victory against the Lobos.
The Varsity Girls completely dominated the Lobos. The Lady Raccoons kept the ball on their side of the field the entire first half. The Raccoons took many shots on goal, several were over the goal, off to the side of the goal, and off the post. The Lady Raccoons first score came when #19 passed to #23 who dribbled toward the net, the goalie came out and missed the ball and #23 kicked it into the net with 6:23 left in the first half. Frisco had the half time lead of 1-0. Frisco's second score was by #14, who just powered it past the keeper to give Frisco a 2-0 lead with 30 minutes left to play. The third and final goal, came when #9 side-stepped the goalie as she attempted to stop the ball, and dribbled the ball past the goalie and kick it into the net. The Lady Raccoons had a lot of shots on goal and pretty much kept the ball on their own side of the field. The Lady Raccoons goalies had an easy night, not getting a lot of touches on the ball. The Varsity Girls were fast, passed the ball efficiently and played well together as a team.
Congratulations Lady Raccoons on great wins tonight.

The Lady Mustangs had the opportunities, they had several fouls that allowed for free throws at the line, but the Mustnags could only get one in. The Mustangs pulled within one with less than four seconds left, Hendrick 25-Staley 24. A foul by the Lady Mustangs had a Hendrick player going to the line, and making both shots to put the game away at 27-23. The Lady Mustangs played tough, and with great determination and spirit, to come back and give the fans an exciting game. A close and thrilling game that could have gone either way. The 8th Grade A team was fun to watch, as I know several of the girls on this team. These young ladies put on a show for the Mustang faithful. They took the lead early on and kept adding to it. The 7th Grade A team gets the award for game of the night. This game was close throughout, each team putting it all out on the court. The aggressive play of #12, #2, #44 and #45 had the Lady Mustangs matching the Hendrick Wranglers basket for basket. Outstanding effort in the second half by #26, #40, #51 and #55 continued to keep the game tight. Fantastic defense down the stretch kept the Mustangs in the game when the ball would not drop through the net. Despite the excellent effort put forth by the Lady Mustangs and the cheers of the home crowd, the game ended in a 23 all tie at the end of regulation. On to a three minute overtime showdown. The Lady Mustangs had three minutes to show what they are made of: and they did. These young ladies went out and put it all on the court, they dominated the overtime period, showed determination, grit, and Mustang spirit from the tip off. Number 44 took the tip off from #51 to take it up the court for two, to give the Mustangs a quick two point lead. Another quick basket by the Lady Mustangs had the lead stretched to four: Staley 27-Hendrick 23. Great defense had #51 get the rebound and #24 take it to the net to go for the shot and draw the foul. Number 24 came to the line with confidence and calmly sank the first free throw to give the Mustangs a five point lead. Fantastic defense to contain Hendrick and keep them scoreless, and two additional baskets by #26 and #2 had the Mustangs overpower the Wranglers in the overtime period to walk away with a convincing 32-23 victory. When push came to shove, these young ladies proved that they will stay strong, be tough, work together and fight hard to get the job done. These young ladies provided the Staley fans with a thrilling game with a fantastic outcome. I am so glad that I got to watch these girls play this game. Congratulations Lady Mustangs on a hard fought, well deserved victory!!!

The 7th Grade boys C team played tough against the Cyclones, keeping it close through out the game. The team worked together on both offense and defense to stay even with the Cylones. Cobb had a slight lead 11-10 early in the third period, when a bucket by #44 put Staley ahead. Tough defense by Staley #55 and #42 down the stretch kept Staley close. The Cyclones had a 5 point advantage late in third period 21-16, however the Mustangs fought hard and outscored the Cyclones in the fourth period, it just was not quite enough. The Staley boys played strong and competitive, but lost a heartbreaker to Cobb with a final score of 24-22. Great game boys.
The 8th Grade boys C team also played a competitive came against Cobb. The teams traded baskets for the entire first half. Great plays by #3, #10 and #15 had Staley with the lead 18-16 at the half. Cobb came out strong in the third period to go up quickly 23-18. The Staley boys lead by #22, #1 and #0 stayed strong and got back into the game, 26-22 late in the third. The Mustangs were giving it their all. Staley's #22 made a basket in the fourth period to get the Mustangs within two for a score of 26-24. However, Cobb came right back with two baskets of their own to take the lead 30-24. Staley stayed strong and #15 got the Mustangs's two more. Staley #10 drew a foul and made one free throw to bring the score to Cobb 30-Staley 27 with a minute nineteen left. The home crowd was loud and proud. Staley's #22 rebounded under the net and passed it back out to #1, who hit a three point jumper to pull the Mustangs back within 2 with 42 seconds left. Cobb 32-Staley30. Staley defense held and the Mustangs brought it back down the court. The Mustangs took the shot, but luck would not have it fall in for the score. Cobb rebound to close out the game. The Mustangs played strong and tough, but lost a heartbreaker 30-32. Great job, Mustangs!
The Mustangs 8th Grade B Team always plays with such enthusiasm, and determination. I love watching them play, each one of them give it 100%. Once again, the Mustangs played tough and never gave up, but just could not overcome the Cylcones. Keep playing with that determination and spirit.
The Staley Mustang 7th Grade B Team gets the game of the night award!! These boys played toughed. They had to fight hard, and they did. The Mustangs were down by eleven points 18-7 in the third period, and still 23-12 late in the third. But that did not stop the Mustangs. Baskets by #11 and #1 got the Mustangs within 7: 23-16 at the end of the third. Down by 5 (27-22) with a minute and half left, the Mustangs would not give up, they applied the pressure and mounted their comeback. Outstanding defense down the stretch by the Mustangs was crucial. Staley's #5 passed to #1 who made the shot, Mustangs down by three. The Mustangs passed the ball around, took some shots, got the rebounds but could not get one to drop in the basket. The gym rocked as the crowd, and other Staley players chanted "DEFENSE". The Mustang defense stayed tough, and got the ball back. The ball was passed out to #15, who made the jump shot at the three point line. The Staley fans went wild!! TIE GAME 27-27!! The coaches called for a time out with 30 seconds left. The strategy was in place. The Mustangs perfectly executed an inbounds play, Staley #1 with the ball went for the shot and drew the foul. Calm and composed he came to the line and sank one of the free throws to give the Mustangs a very narrow, one point lead 28-27. Staley's #25 stole the ball, but aggressive play by the Cyclones had it come down to a jump ball and possession going to Cobb. The Mustang defense stayed strong, #15 and #1 double teamed the Cyclone player for a steal. #1 brought it back down the court, took the shot, and Cobb rebounded as the seconds ticked off the clock. The buzzer sounded and the crowd leapt to their feet as the Mustangs pulled out an outstanding come from behind victory!!
The Staley Mustangs 7th Grade A team, played a tough Cobb team, who has only lost one game all season. The Mustangs played with grit and determination, but could not overcome the offensive power of the Cyclones. However, these boys play their hearts out every minute of every game. I enjoy watching the all out efforts of all of these boys. Great plays, by # 45, #31, #41 and #12 had the Mustangs putting points on the board, but they lost to the Cyclones, 32-18. Great effort Mustangs!!
The Staley Mustangs 8th Grade A team gave the 7th Grade B team a run for the money on the game of the night. The Staley boys started out strong and had a 5-0 lead in the first, and an 11-7 lead at the half. Cobb proved to be tough, getting five points late in the third period to tie it up at 17. The Mustangs were not going to go down, they dug in and showed the Cyclones what they are made of: determination and persistence. The Mustang's #4 took a shot and drew the foul. Both shots missed, but #13 rebounded, made the basket and drew a foul. The Mustangs came out with the two point lead, 19-17. A foul by the Mustangs in bonus time had the Cyclones sink one free throw to pull back within one. The Mustangs continued to play aggressive, a shot by #54 bounced off the rim and into Staley's #13 hands, who put it through the net for two: Staley 21-Cobb 18. Staley's #54 came to the line and sank a free throw to give the Mustangs a much needed point, as Cobb came right back and got a goal to be only down by two. ( Staley 22-Cobb 20). Staley's #54 drew another foul and with composure and precision, swished two through the net to put the Mustangs up by four with 1:48 to play. Some Staley players were fouled, and came to the line, and one went through the net, that and great defense kept the score at 25-20, until Staley's #4 came to the line for another chance at two free throws. Number 4 made it look easy as he put two through to give the Mustangs the lead at 27-20 with 47 seconds left. The Cyclones got one more point on a free throw, but the Mustang defense kept the pressure on and got possession at the end of the game to run out the last ten seconds for the victory. Fantastic win, Mustangs!! Way to be tough!!
All the boys played well and provided exciting moments for the Staley fans. Congratulations Mustangs!!
I am looking forward to being at Staley next week to watch, cheer on and photograph our Lady Mustangs!!

The 8th Grade Mustangs C team played well against the Panthers. Pioneer took an early 6-0 lead, but Staley fought back to close the gap to 2 at 10-8 late in the second period. Nice team work and shots, by #10, #33, #3 and #0 helped the Mustangs keep it close. The Panthers came out on fire in the third period to take control of the contest. The Mustangs took shots, but did not have the any luck getting them to fall their way. Although the Mustangs outscored the Panthers in the fourth period, it was not enough as the Mustangs fell to the Panthers 31-19. Good game boys!
The 7th Grade Mustangs C team took control of the contest against the Panthers from the get-go. The Mustangs had a 9-2 lead early in the second period. The Mustangs had a great third period with a commanding 11 point lead. The boys played great together, had stellar defense and turned the pressure into a lot of fastbreak points. The Mustangs stayed strong and played smart to get the much deserved victory. Fantastic Job!! Congratulations, Mustangs!!
The 8th Grade B Team played tough against the Panthers. The boys kept it close, matching basket for basket in the first half. The Mustangs and Panthers were tied up 9-9 late in the second period. The Panthers proved to be strong in the second half, gaining momentum, and turning up the defense to outscore the Mustangs, and take a late fourth quarter lead of 30-19. Regardless of the final score, it is always fun to watch this Mustang team play. These boys go out and leave it all on the court. They play with heart, determination and Mustang spirit.
The 7th Grade Boys B team played an exciting game. The Mustangs took command of the game early and had an 8-2 lead at the start of the second quarter. The Mustangs were up by ten when the Panthers mounted a come back. Going on a scoring run, the Panthers were down by 2: 19-17 when a foul took them to the line, they sunk both free throws to tie it up midway through the third quarter. However, the Mustangs stayed strong and aggressive, played defense down the stretch and hit their shots to finish out the game with a 30-22 victory. A great game Mustangs!!
The 7th Grade A Team played hard against the Panthers, but fell behind early and could not make up the deficit. However, these boys play strong and aggressive, with grit and spirit. Number 31 and #45 raced up and down the court, controlling the ball and great shots by #22, #12 and # 3 had the Mustangs put points on the board. It is always great to see this young team play together. Great job Mustangs.
The 8th Grade A team wins the award for the most exciting game of the night. The Mustangs played a fantastic game and fought hard. The game was close, with the Mustangs and Panthers trading baskets, for a tie score at 11 at the end of the first period. The Panthers pulled ahead in the second period to have a 25-20 lead at the half. Pioneer increased their lead on the Mustangs to ten points in the third period. The Mustangs stayed strong, getting a couple of baskets to bring the score 34-28 in favor of the Panthers late in the third. Number 25 made a shot to get the Mustangs two more and drew a one and one foul. The ball bounced off the rim from the free throw and was rebound by Staley #54, who went up for the shot and drew the foul. Both balls bounced off the rim to close out the third period with the Mustangs down by four: 34-30. The Mustangs kept the faith, gather their Mustang spirit and buckled down for six more minutes of play. After a missed shot by Pioneer, Staley #23 brought the ball down court, passed to #14 who put up a shot and that was rebound by #11 who made the shot for the Mustangs and drew them within two-34-32. Pioneer answered with their own basket to take the four point lead again: Pioneer 36-Mustangs 32. Once again Staley's #23 brought the ball to the Mustangs' side of the court, and nailed a three pointer. Excitement filled the air, the Mustang fans jumped to their feet, as the lead was cut to one: Pioneer 36- Mustangs 35. But with 4:55 left, it was still anyone's game. The Panthers put two on the board, and the Mustangs responded when #14 put one through the net to keep the Mustangs in the game: Panthers 38- Mustangs 37. Mustangs rebounded a Pioneer shot, brought it up court, took a shot, missed but got the rebound. However, the Panthers had a steal under the net and raced down the court. The Mustangs' #5 played great "D" and returned the favor with a steal of his own. Billy went up for the shot and drew the foul with 1:40 left in the game. Ready and composed, Billy made the first of two free throws to tie the game up at 38. The crowd roared and jumped to their feet. Still anyone's game, with the crowd chanting defense, the Mustangs stepped it up and kept the pressure on. Missed shots by both teams had the scored knotted up, when a time out was called. The Mustangs had a potentially costly steal on a pass, but great defense neutralized the Panthers shot. Mustang #25 dribbled the ball down the court, the ball was passed around until Staley #51 took a shot, rebounded and took another shot. The ball would not fall in for a score. The Mustangs rebounded, and passed off to #25, who shot and drew the foul. Jack, calm, steady and composed connected on the first free throw as the crowd went wild. The Mustang faithful roared again when Jack swished the second free throw for a two point Mustang lead with 19 seconds left. Two time outs later, Pioneer got possession, inbounded the ball and took it to their side, as the crowd chanted "DEFENSE". Staley applied the pressure and a pass sailed out of bounds. Mustangs' ball with nine second left. Mustang's #25 was fouled, during bonus time, and got a one and one. The ball bounced off the rim and Mustangs rebounded, ran out the clock and hung on for a 40-38 hard fought, come from behind victory. A thrilling win for these boys, who never, ever give up. Great job Mustangs!!!

The Mustangs 8th Grade B team, came out on fire, after watching their teammates on the C team get a thrilling victory. The Mustangs were matching the Falcons basket for basket and had the scored tied 10-10 in the second quarter. The Falcons went on a 9-4 run to take a 19-14 lead into the half. Number 43 sank a basket at the free throw line to get the Mustangs at 15-21 in the third quarter. The Mustangs continued to play tough and with 5:20 left in the game, the Mustangs were within two. Mustangs 21-Falcons-23. The Falcons still had the lead, but #3 came to the line and got one through the net to bring the score to: Mustangs 22-Falcons 26. Then Mustang #42 dribbled down court and made a lay up shot to get the Mustangs back in the game, only two out. Mustangs 24-Falcons-26. After a great rebound, and coming back down the court, Staley's #1 drew a foul, with 1:57 left in the game. The Mustangs were ready for another come from behind victory. However, both baskets just barely missed, Fowler went to inbound the ball, when #24 tipped it and Staley's #42 got the ball, turned and shot. Two points for the Mustangs--the game was unbelievably tied up at 26 with 1:52 left. However, anyone will tell you that is an eternity in basketball. Staley's #3 had a great steal, passed to #24 who went up for the shot, however great defense by the Falcons, had them bring it back for two points. The Mustangs were aggressive, playing to win, but fouled the Falcons several times. The Falcons proved to be proficient at free throws, hitting 5 out of 6 to go ahead 33-26. The game was much, much closer than the final scored indicated. The Mustangs fought hard, but time ran out and the Falcons held on for the victory.
Th Staley 7th Grade B team played a great game, they went ahead right off the bat, with baskets by #10 and # 1. Falcons proved they could play just as well as the Mustangs. They quickly closed the gap and took the lead 12-11 mid-way through the second quarter. Staley Number #3 made a great lay up to get the Mustangs two more; however, the Falcons were tough, taking a 19-13 lead to the half. The Mustangs would not be brought down that easily. They came out in the second half, aggressive and strong. several baskets and great defense had them bring it within two with 25 seconds left. Staley's #1 got the ball on the inbound, after a time out. He went to the paint, and took a shot, but the Falcon defense blocked the shot, Mustang #11 got the rebound, and was fouled. We though he would go to the line to shoot, but apparently it was not a shooting foul, so the Mustangs inbounded the ball, and #24 took a shot, but it did not drop and was knocked out of bounds--Falcon's ball. The Falcons threw the ball down the court and threw it at the basket as the buzzer sounded. The Falcons outlasted the Mustangs for the 27-25 victory.
The Staley 8th Grade A team had their work cut out for them. The Falcons sported some big kids. Two of them could dunk!! This team was loaded with talent. They have scored 50+ points against all their opponents so far. The Staley Boys played well, but were out matched against this bigger team. They were down 16-5 int he second quarter. The Mustangs players kept their composure, played hard and stayed strong. They definitely were not the bigger team, but their compete level is off the charts. They played a great fourth quarter, scoring nine points while holding the Falcons to 2. The Staley Boys kept the Falcons under 50 points and had the lowest points spread of all of Fowler's opponents. A moral victory with the Falcons 45- Mustangs 24.
The Staley 7th Grade A team played well together as a team. The Falcons and Mustangs battled it out, keeping it close it the first half. The Falcons came out hard in the second half, going up 19-7. A great pass from Staley #12 to #22 lead to a fantastic three point shot. The Mustangs were tough, not going down easy, but it was an uphill battle against a much bigger team. The Staley boys were handed a 39-22 defeat, but will hopefully rebound next week and come back strong.

Here are some images of that incredible game:
]]>A little background, my husband, Joe has coached both boys teams for six years. So first off, he had to make a choice of which team to coach during the actual game. He has an assistant for Garrett's team, but not for Nicholas', so he let his assistant coach Garrett's team, and he coach Nicholas' team. Garrett, the older boy is fairly quiet and reserved, the exact opposite of Nicholas. Nicholas is by far, always the smallest one on the field, but anyone will tell you that he is fast, scrappy, and fearless, if you could not tell by the cast on his arm.
As most parents knows, if one of your kids has an important game, invariably at the same time, so does another one, Well, as fate would have it, these two played on the very same night and time as the very last Staley football my older son would play in. So, as always, it was divide and conquer. I watched and photographed Alex's football game, then raced across town to get the the second half of this game. My husband being so wonderful, knew I would only make the second half and had the two boys play on my side of the field. Garrett and Nicholas did not disappoint. Nicholas played like he always does, all out, all the time and I have never seen Garrett play a better game of soccer, he was quick and aggressive, not wanting his little brother get the best of him.
Both Garrett and Nicholas played great, and it was very entertaining to watch them. There may, or may not, have been a little extra pushing, and perhaps a few words exchanged, however, both of them had smiles plastered on their face the entire game. Nicholas's team played great, but Garrett's team prevailed in the end 3-0 and the win and shutout propelled them into the championship game. This was a fun game, and I am so glad I did not miss it, definitely a memorable moment for the Deutsch family. On a side note, I loved how Joe coached Nicholas' team, the one in blue, but wore maroon, the color of Garrett's team. Way to be neutral and diplomatic!!
Here are a few of my favorite images.
My favorite image!!
Garrett giving as good as he gets!!
Brings a whole new meaning to four on four!!
Um, that was not on purpose at all, honest, Mom!!
"Not today, Space Ranger!" Nicholas to Garrett.
Garrett, "Well, as a matter of fact, yes today, we are winning!"
Still buddies!!
One proud daddy!!

]]>This photo means so much because these three friends played together at Staley Middle School, now two play for Wakeland High School and one for Frisco High School. The match up between Morgan and Katie was fun to watch. I love the timing of this photo, while capturing the action of Katie and Morgan, I caught Matte, in the background right between them. Priceless!!
The hugs between friends on different teams, never gets old, and warms my heart!! Love it!!
The next two go together. My daughter Katie, ran a spectacular race in the Girls Varsity Mile, she ran fast and tough, and finished strong. She ran a personal best time of 5:38. Finishing fourth overall. I was so proud of her!!
This is the photo after the race, of Katie's teammates giving her hugs for such a great race. They were so happy for her, and this moment brought tears to my eyes. Happy tears!!
I loved photographing these girls throughout both cross country and track season. They were a fantastic group of girls and I am so glad Katie is friends with such inspiring, wonderful girls. Love them!!
Photographing these young ladies, and getting to know them throughout soccer season. This is what makes me love what I do!! Fun times!!
Katie's friends at Staley Middle School who now go to Wakeland, reminds me how much emotions are tied to sports. I love this girl. She and Katie have been friends for years, and I love seeing her at the different sporting events. She and Katie both play soccer and track together. I enjoyed watching Morgan at the District Track meet place fourth and advance to the Area meet. In doing so, she earned her Varsity Letter, as a freshman. I am so proud of her!!
These three girls, Matte, Katie and Morgan, love them so much. I enjoyed seeing them together at soccer and track. This makes my heart happy!!
This hug between the Padgett sisters after an intense jump off for the final spot in High Jump to go to the Area competition. After an intense competition, Madison got a hug from her sister, Peyton, as they both advanced to the Area Finals.
Seeing my daughter's name on the leader board as she brought home third place in the district in the girls JV two mile race. This will never get old!
Watching, photographing and cheering on this fabulous young lady, Kelley as she ran a fantastic race in the District Girls JV mile, finishing second in her final race as a Lady Raccoon!!
Again, these girls!!! So fun, so many memories!!
These young ladies helped bring home the runner up title in both the Varsity and JV Girls District Track Meet.
Watching Katie run her first cross country meet of her sophomore year, after being sidelined and undergoing physical therapy for a hip injury. I am sure I was more nervous than she was. I can not describe my absolute joy and relief of seeing her approach the finish line, running strong, finishing 32rd overall and second on her team.
Watching and cheering on this young lady, Anna, another of Katie's friends during two seasons of cross country. Seeing her work so hard, improve so much and get a medal in the Girls Varsity race at the Cougar Classic Meet. Her success brought tears to my eyes!! Way to go Anna, love you!
Watching, photographing and cheering on these young ladies every week during cross country. These young ladies are probably the hardest working young ladies I know. I love the unity of the team and how they encourage each other. It was great to see them all have such great success individually and as a team. Love these girls!!
The Frisco High School Raccoons Varsity Football Squad's pre-game hype before the Frisco vs. Heritage game, led by quarterback Jake Battaglia. It was inspiring, motivating and fun to photograph. Loved it!!
The Staley Football 8th Grade White Team vs. Hunt 14-14. This was a thrilling game that ended in a tie. The Hunt Huskies went ahead 14-0 early in the second quarter. The Mustangs had a great drive to bring it to 14-6. The Mustangs put together a nice drive toward the end of the first half, but an incomplete pass, had the drive stall on the twenty yard line, so Hunt took the 14-6 lead to the half. The Mustang came out roaring in the second half, put together a fantastic drive that took up half of the quarter and scored on a twelve yard touch down pass. The PAT had the game tied at 14. The Staley defense really dug in and held the Huskies once they were inside the red zone. The Huskies defense also dug in and held the Mustangs, forcing a punt. The Huskies' offense was steadily moving down the field as the clock ticked closer to zero. The Mustangs defense was once again tough, holding the Huskies and forcing them to attempt a field goal on fourth and seven on the eleven yard line with only seconds left on the clock. The ball was snapped and in a flash #11 was in the backfield on the ball before the kicker could get his foot on the ball, but was tackled before he could progress down the field. The Mustangs got the ball back with nine seconds left, but it was too many yards with too little time left. The game ended in 14-14 tie, as both teams battled it out, played with heart and determination and left it all on the field. A great game for the Mustangs.
The last huddle of the Staley 8th Grade Football team. I watched, cheered on and photographed these boys from the sidelines for every game for two years. It was bittersweet to see them together one last time, as they will move on to different high schools and some will opt not to play football. As I saw them all together, one last time, celebrating a victory, I was reminded of all the wonderful moments that I was honored to photograph over all those games and how much I would miss this special group of boys! Again, more tears!
A big moment for the Frisco High School Raccoons Varsity Football team as they had the opportunity to play at the home of the Cowboys, AT&T Stadium, as they made a run in the Texas State playoffs. The Raccoons played two great games, one that ended with a victory over Dallas Lincoln and one that saw them fight hard, but come up short against a very talented Ennis team. It was a fabulous experience for me as well.
These young ladies are near and dear to my heart. I am honored and privileged to photograph them on a regular basis during the football season. I was doubly honored to be asked to photograph them at the playoff game at AT&T Stadium. This photo of the Frisco Stars on the Cowboy Star in the middle of the field was a big highlight and one that I really wanted to capture. These young ladies are fabulous and I can not wait to see them again next year.
]]>My top 13 of 2013.
13. Wakeland Boys 2013 Regional Cross Country Win. These boys were awesome!! They went on to finish third in the state. Congratulations, boys!!
12. Staley Middle School 8th Grade White Team vs. Pioneer. Staley victory 25-16. The Staley boys had to come back to win this game, something they had to only do once in the two years they played together. It was an exciting game with a great outcome. Way to go boys!!
11. The beginning of the 2013 school year saw Frisco High School open a new competition gym. Frisco High School Volleyball christened the beautiful new gym with a win. The gym was greatly needed, and Raccoons have a great home that will hopefully see many more victories.
10. Lady Raccoons first round playoff win against Prosper. I enjoyed photographing these young ladies all season. They played a great game against Prosper, taking the victory 3-1. The Lady Raccoons played a focused and determined game, to get a well deserved victory. Photos of the excitement and happiness in the celebration of a goal, are always a favorite of mine. Way to go Lady Raccoons!!
9. This young lady, Bianca, is a fantastic athlete. I tried to always make sure I photographed her during her specialty race, the 100 hurdles. Her form and grace are a thing of beauty, and I loved capturing it. She had a fantastic season and I look forward to following her track career at OU.
8. Middle School 7th Grade Boys Soccer Playoff Game vs. Wester. The Staley boys made it to the playoffs, scored a first round victory against Fowler to move on to the second round to play against Wester. The Staley Mustangs fell behind 2-0, but took the second half by storm. The offense played more aggressively and the defense really stepped it up, especially after an injury to one of their top players. The Mustangs played with heart and determination, and in the last half played the best they had all season, scoring two goals, one with two minutes left, forcing the game to be determined by penalty kicks. The final scoreboard read 7-5 in favor of Wester, the Mustangs did not lose the game, they were just outscored by the eventual District Champs. This game was incredibly emotional. The Staley boys overcame adversity, came back to tie the game and played a fantastic game of soccer. Here is the emotional celebration of the game tying goal. What a great game, Mustangs!!
7. Another Staley Boys 7th Grade Soccer game, Staley vs. Hunt 4-3. The Staley Mustangs played a great game against the Hunt Huskies, it was a thriller. Staley had the 2-1 lead at halftime, but the Huskies came out aggressively at the second half and took the lead 3-2 midway through the second half. The Mustangs fought back and tied it 3-3 with ten minutes left in the game. The Huskies and Mustangs battled it out, each offense being aggressive and both defenses making some stellar saves. The game came down to the wire, with 21 seconds left, Travis took the ball down the sideline and passed to the middle, Trent was right there, and played the ball perfectly, kicking it right passed the goalie for the Mustang score. The Mustangs held on for a 4-3 victory. It was an exciting game with a fantastic finish. It was awesome to see the Mustangs fight back and see the overjoyed players storm the field after the victory.
6. This one definitely has the "mom" in me coming out. This photograph may seem typical, and to most, even unexciting. However, this was the first time my daughter Katie led a race. She ran in front most of the JV Girls two mile race. She ran a fantastic race, finishing second overall. She ran a personal best that day. Definitely a highlight of the season, for me, seeing her lead the pack. Katie and her teammates took home second, third and fourth. A strong race for the Lady Raccoons! Way to go Katie, so proud of you!
5. Staley Middle School 8th Grade Blue Team vs. Pioneer. Staley 20-Pioneer 14. This game was certainly the most exciting game of the season for the Staley 8th Grade Blue Team. The season saw the Mustangs 8th Grade Blue team struggle, but never give up. This game exemplified that. The Staley Mustangs went down 14-0 in the first quarter. They fought back to a 14-14 tie at half time and held the Panthers at the end of the half as they tried to score. The Staley boys held Pioneer, the defense really stepping it up to keep them scoreless for three quarters. With 2:17 left in the game the Mustangs scored, only to have it called back due to a penalty. The Mustangs stayed strong, got the first down and scored with 26 second left to go up 20-14. The Staley defense buckled down to hold the Panthers and seal the victory!! The Mustangs played with such heart and grit for a hard earned victory!! The sideline celebration as time ran out!
4. Frisco vs. Wakeland. It does not matter what sport it is, it seems like these two teams always play each other tough. JV Girls soccer, it seems that Wakeland has dominated this series for many years. This was a special game, as my daughter Katie played for Frisco, and several of her friends played for Wakeland. Friends who played together at Staley Middle School on the field together again, but this time for different teams. The Wakeland team dominated the game as the Lady Raccoons fell behind early. The Lady Raccoons played a great second half, and the highlight of the game came from Frisco's only goal. Katie Deutsch scored her first career goal as a Lady Raccoon!!! One of the only goals Frisco JV Girls Soccer had scored against Wakeland in recent memory. Here is the moment of Katie being congratulated by some of her teammates. Proud moment, way to go Katie!!
3. Frisco High JV Volleyball vs. Wakeland. This game was the most exciting, thrilling match. The Lady Raccoons started off slow and Wakeland took the first game. The Lady Raccoons came back strong to take the second game, forcing a third game. The Raccoons were up 12-10, but Wakeland would not go down without a fight, they had the game tied at 17 and then went up 23-20 and the fans were cheering them on, but Frisco came storming back tying it up at 23. The Lady Raccoons took a 24-23 lead, but Wakeland proved tough going ahead, 25-24. Frisco had a game saving hit to give them new life, and then both teams traded points to have it tied at 27. Frisco had a kill over the net to take the lead 28-27, and the crowd was on the edge of their seat, with their hearts racing at top speed. Frisco served, and a fantastic Frisco block on Wakeland's return had the ball land in Wakeland's court for the final point. Frisco 29-Wakeland 27. The Frisco crowd and players went wild. It was a thrilling game, that could have gone either way. The Lady Raccoons had to fight hard for a victory. Way to go!!! The photo of the on court celebration after the final point.
1&2. This was a tie. I know for some it may not seem that these two photos would rival each other for the top spot. The first photo is of the Frisco High School Raccoons quarterback, Jake Battaglia hurdling a Dallas Lincoln player during the Frisco Raccoons second round playoff game at AT&T Stadium. This, by far was the play of the game, it set up Frisco's game tying touchdown and really shifted the momentum to the Raccoons. For me, I was excited to get such a fantastic shot of a pivotal moment in such a big game on a prestigious field. Especially since I do not normally photograph Frisco High School Football. I know that this got quite a few likes and shares on Facebook, and I am so happy it was such a hit. However, as I have said, for me the love of photographing sports has so much to do with emotion. And, as any mom will tell you, when your child makes a great play, or has a fantastic moment, nothing beats it. As a parent you are emotional whenever your child is involved. The second photo represents that for me, it is a photograph of my oldest son Alex making his first and only interception for Staley Middle School. In two years of playing football for Staley, it was the first time Alex had his hands on the ball. For me to literally stay focused, as the play played out, and capture this thrilling moment, when all I wanted to do was jump with joy, was truly a moment of a lifetime. As I look at it, it brings back all those emotions I feel for Alex, joy and pride. Something every parent feels and why it is #1 in my book.
As I photograph each event, I try to capture the action and the emotions, because that is what makes it real, it is what we feel and what we remember. I know that as I photograph these events, I share all the emotions that players, coaches and parents are feeling: the excitement, the intensity, the heartbreak, and joy! I have been know to shed a few tears on the sideline in both victory and defeat. I love watching not only my kids, but all the kids play. Each one of them have had special moments, be it their first game, their last game or having a moment of success within the event. These are all special moments. I hope that through my photography I have been able to give other parents a special memory of their child. A photo that they can look back on and feel all the emotions tied to that moment. I have loved every minute of every event, and can't wait for all the events that 2014 brings. Thanks for the memories.
]]>The 8th Grade C Team, was overpowered by the speed and talent of the Spartans. The boys were down 21-2 at the end of the first period, as the Spartans took control from the tip off. The Staley boys played hard and never gave up. Number 10 play with aggression the entire game, while other Mustangs had some great shots, including #45, #33, #4, #15 and others. Despite their best efforts the Mustangs could not contain the offensive firepower of the Spartans, falling 55-21.
The 7th Grade C team played a great game, keeping the score close. The Mustangs were down 14-10 late in the third period when they started a comeback. #31 had a fantastic steal to take it back down the court for two. Great defense and a bucket by #55 had the game knotted at 14. Another bucket by #55 had the scored tied again at 16. He then went to the line for a free throw, sank one to put the Mustangs ahead 17-16 at the end of the third period. The Mustangs continued to play tough and had it tied at 22 with a minute left in the game. A basket by the Spartans had them take the lead 24-22. The Mustangs continued to play great defense, but could not get a ball to fall their way. A foul had the Spartans making one more basket on a free throw with 36 seconds left. The Mustangs took the ball to their basket, but several attempts netted them nothing. The Spartans rebounded and took it back the other way, some great defense by Staley #22 and #3 helped Staley #1 get the ball back with 5 seconds left. Number one shot with 1.7 seconds left, it went over the basket, but he was fouled. Unfortunately, the ball did not drop the Mustangs way on the free throws, and the buzzard sounded with a Spartan 25-22 victory.
The 8th Grade B Team suffered the same fate at the C team, trying to overcome the speed and talent of the Spartans. The Spartans took a fairly large lead into the second quarter and the Mustangs could not close the gap. Despite being behind the Mustangs, the team still put together offensive drives, and had many good shots, by #42, #43, and a nice three point shot by #12. The Spartans strong play resulted in a 53-21 win over the Mustangs.
The 7th Grade B Team started off strong, but the Spartans were matching basket for basket. The Mustnags took and 8-4 lead mid way through the first period as both #15 and #31 had two nice lay ups. The Spartans and the Mustangs were battling it out on the court, each team driving down the court and making shots. The Mustangs had a 22-18 lead half way through the fourth period. Great defense by #4 and great rebounding by #11 had the Mustangs keeping the lead on the Spartans. Number 10 brought it down the court and executed a lay up to give the Mustangs a 24-19 lead. The Spartans made a basket to cut the lead to three with just under 5 seconds to play. The Spartans gave it on last shot that went over the net and had the Mustangs hang on for the victory 24-21.
The 8th grade A Team played well and gave it their all, but fell behind early 9-2 mid way through the first quarter. The Mustangs continued to play hard but the Spartan lead increased. Number 54, #4, #35, #51 and #25 all contributed Mustang points. Number 5 had a fabulous three pointer in the fourth period. The Spartans proved to be a very talented and tough opponent, taking the victory 64-34. The Mustangs never gave up and played with great Mustang spirit.
The Seventh Grade A team played tough, keeping the game within reach. The score was 14-9 at the half thanks to the aggressive play of #1, #31, #10. The Mustangs continued to play tough and had the score tied at 19 during the third period. Some baskets by the Spartans had them taking the lead 24-19 with two minutes left. The Mustangs played aggressive and hard, but could not get any more points on the board. The Spartans hung on for a 27-19 win.
The Mustang boys played hard and never gave up. The Mustang fans, love seeing their boys hit the hardwoods and cheered every shot.

The 7th Grade Boys C team played a close, exciting game. The game was tight throughout, with a 20-20 tie in the fourth period. The Mustangs played tough, but a break away by the Vikings had them making a basket to take the lead, 22-20. The Vikings scored another to take a four point lead, but the Mustangs battle back to get it with in two , when #42 hit the basket with two minutes left. The Vikings added an insurance basket. The Mustang took quite a few shots on goal, but could not get them to fall their way. The final score had the Vikings outlasting the Mustangs 26-22.
The 8th Grade B Team played a tough Viking team. The Mustangs played tough but they gave the Vikings too many chances to rebound and score. The Mustangs lost 28-16.
The 7th Grade B team defeated the Vandeventer Vikings 34-16. The Staley Mustangs scored first and never looked back. The Mustangs controlled the pace of the game and beat the VIkings through great teamwork.
The 7th Grade A team suffered a disappointing loss against Vandeventer. The Vikings are a quality team, that have talent and size to overpower their opponents. The Vikings took a 43-22 lead into the final quarter of the game.
The 8th Grade A team played strong and steady to take the Viking down with a score of 43-31. The Mustangs, got off to a great start, pushing the ball and attacking the basket. A great job by the Mustangs.
The Staley Mustangs teams had some successes and set backs, but all in all the boys played some great round ball, after a week hiatus. Great job Mustangs keep up the good work.

]]>Brittany is a senior, Class of 2014 at Frisco High School. She has been the manager for the Frisco High School Volleyball team the last couple of years. I was fortunate to get to know Brittany, last year when my daughter Katie played volleyball. Brittany is beautiful, sweet, kind heart and funny. She has a wonderful personality, and an infectious laugh that just attracts people.
Brittany hopes to attend Texas Tech University , or North Texas University next year. I know that wherever she decides to go, she will be successful.

I want to thank my husband, Joe, for photographing from the stands, to get a different perspective of the STARS on the field during their half time performance, while they were dancing on the star.
I was so happy that we were able to get a photo of the team down on the field, around the star after the game, with the AT&T Stadium and the scoreboard in the background.
As always, it is an honor to photograph these wonderful young ladies!!!
Thank you Stars booster club, I appreciate all you have done for me!
Wishing everyone a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

The Staley Mustangs Basketball season started tonight. The boys teams traveled to Wester Middle School to take on the Wildcats. The 8th Grade boys C Team started off a little slow, but at the end of the first period, they were hanging tough 6-5. The second quarter had Wester getting ahead, getting quite a few point from free throws, at the half, it was Wester 15 - Staley 7. The Mustangs settled down and and got back into the game, getting within six points, thanks in part to #33 and #43 who sank a couple of three pointers. The Mustangs closed the gap, 27-23 early in the fourth quarter, and stayed closed to Wester but could not overcome the Wildcats. The final score for the 8th Grade C team: 37-30.
The Mustangs 7th Grade C Team played a very exciting game. The score was close the entire game. The score was Staley 12-Wester 10 at the end of the third period. The battle was close, with each team matching basket for basket. At the 4:28 mark of the 4th quarter Staley still had the lead 14-12, but Wester tied it up soon after. The scored tied with less than a minute left, had the crowd at the edge of their seat. Staley #31 brought it back down the court after a rebound and was fouled on the shot. To the absolute delight of the Mustang fans, players and coaches, he made the first shot at the line, to give the Mustangs the lead 15-14. The aggressive play of #30, gave the Mustangs back the ball on a steal. An insurance bucket was added to give the Mustangs a three point lead with ten seconds left. With 45 seconds left, the Mustangs sank one to bring the score to 39-33, but they sent Wester to the line, where the were sinking their free throws. The Mustangs put up one final basket at the buzzer, but it was not enough as they lost 43-35. The game was tough and intense and the Mustang played a much closer game than the score indicated.
The 7th Grade A team played well. Both teams started off slow taking most of the first quarter to get some points on the board. The Mustangs put up the first point on #11's free throw. But Wester came back to score a bucket. The boys were evenly matched up and in the third quarter the Mustangs had a two point lead 13-11. Wester had a strong third quarter and was up 23-19 at the start of the final period. Although the Mustangs played tough and continue to press, the final score was 35-25 in favor of Wester.
The 7th Grade teams did not look inexperienced. All three teams played strong. The Mustangs are a talented team with a lot of potential. The Mustang's season should be very competitive.
The 8th Grade teams played tough, never giving up. The Mustangs are a good team, with talent, focus and determination. They should be able to have a competitive season if they continue to play strong together.
Congratulations Mustangs on a great opening night!!

I have loved every minute of it, from the first pre-game huddle of the 7th grade scrimmage to the last post game huddle of Monday night's 8th grade playoff game. I have seen so many great plays and moments. I remember the first scrimmage as 7th graders, watching the boys learn the game on a warm, sunny afternoon, looking so young and handsome in their nice crisp Staley blue uniforms. I remember going to Arbor Creek and watching the boys on both teams suffer heartbreaking losses in their first games. I remember the second game, where the boys played more like a "team", and that team, the Staley Mustangs, was a force to be reckoned with. I remember an extremely exciting 7th Grade Blue team game against Hunt, when the team scored a touchdown with 30 seconds left to get the win . I was lucky enough to be there on the sidelines and capture the excitement of the win. The Blue team also had an equally exciting 14-13 win against Pioneer that came down to the wire. There were tough losses to Cobb for both teams. The teams played Vandeventer in last year's playoff game, and the White team won handily. They allowed only one touch down in their last 3 games and they finished the season with a 6-2 record for second place in the district on the West side. The Blue team, gave the Staley faithful some nail biting and exciting games, including the playoff game which came down to the defense not letting the Vikings score when they had first and goal with thirty seconds left, and Staley staying strong for a 14-12 win.
This year I saw the Mustangs start off the season with both teams winning. I saw the White Team cruise to victories, and the Blue team struggle to get wins, but never giving up. Once again, there were tough losses to Cobb for both teams. I saw two really great games against Pioneer. The White team had to come from behind, to get the win. It was the first time they did that. The Blue team played a fantastic game to also come from behind, score a touchdown with less than thirty seconds left to win 20-14. I saw the White team, shut down Hunt with less than 30 second left in the game, "block" a field goal on fourth down to preserve a 14-14 tie. Then Monday night, I saw both teams play like every single parent and coach knows that they can play: strong, determine and tough. The White team played tough, the defense having a stellar performance of not letting the Seahawks get a first down on any of their possessions. I saw the Blue team put in an impressive performance in a 38-0 rout, proving that they are indeed tough and talented. In their two years of play, the White Team's record was 13-3-1. They finished second in the district on the West side, for the second straight year.
There were things I would never get tired of seeing. The list is long, the moments are many. The pre game huddles-- and yelling "Mustangs" before they headed to the sidelines. Number 1, #8, #9 #17, #19, #21, #25 and many others running down the field making some big play. Seeing the offensive line, block and create big holes for the running backs. The quarterbacks #21, #11 (#18) and #7 pass down the field to their receivers. Watching the big hits that were made on defense, too many to list, because it seems at one point every single person on the team has made a least one great tackle or hit. #30 being the first young lady to grace the team, and knocking it out of the park with some superb kick offs. Seeing her teammates and the fans, cheer her on every time she took the field. Watching #33 put in a fantastic effort on the last down of this year's White team's game against Cobb. Watching the teams under the beautiful, colorful Texas skies as the sun set. Seeing the excitement of the team on the sidelines, after big plays, and thrilling wins. Seeing the coaches and teammates congratulating the offense, or defense after making a great play or having a great series, or a player after a great play. Watching #42 get the ball and score on a PAT at Monday night's game, and seeing the genuine joy of his teammates as they congratulated him. Hearing the Staley fans cheer for their team. The Staley cheerleaders!! The boys running through the cheerleader tunnel at the end of the games. Seeing each and every member of the Staley team on the field, wearing the blue, gold and white proudly, representing their school with such great sportsmanship. Watching the boys go out every week and play with such great Mustang spirit, giving 100% and never giving up. And of course, seeing my son on the field having fun. Although the losses were tough, and the wins were great, these other moments will be the things I will remember. It has been an amazing two years watching these young men. I wish them all great success as they move on to different high schools, I will be cheering them on no matter where they are. I eagerly await another season of Staley football, and sincerely hope I get to see another one of my son's proudly wear the blue and gold. Thanks for the memories!!!

]]>The first half saw a great pass from #7 to #17 for the first score, and a run by #9 for the second score. I got back in time to see #1 take the second half kick off and rocket 65 yards for the touch down. A great PAT kick had the Mustangs up 22-0. The Mustangs dominated on defense, dropping the Seahawks for a huge loss on first and second down, and no gain on third down had Scoggins punting on fourth and 15. Number 17 caught the punt at the Staley 40 yard line and ran it back for the score. A successful PAT had the Mustang lead stretched to 30-0.
The Mustang defense held the Seahawks on fourth and two to get the ball back. A strong run by #1 on first down, moved the ball into Scoggins territory and garnished a fresh set of downs. On second down, quarterback #7, did a quick drop and fired a bullet to the back of the end zone to #17 for a touch down. Another perfect kick through the uprights had the Mustangs putting the game away at 38-0, with one quarter left to play.
The last quarter saw the Mustang defense continue their stellar work, and bring some other players on offense to get their hands on the ball. Number 12 had some runs for yards at running back. A fumble by the Mustangs, gave Scoggins the ball on the 45 yard line. The Mustangs stopped the running game on first down, so the Seahawk quarterback took to the air. Mustang #13 kept his eye on the ball, then stepped in front of the receiver to snag the interception. He ran it back to the Seahawk 25 yard line. The Mustang ran one more play to run out the clock and take the victory with an impressive 38-0 score. A great night for these young men, so happy to see them go out on a winning note.
Here are some images of the game.

The second half started off with a bang, as #25 took the kick off and took it to the house for the score. The team lined up for the PAT and handed the ball to #42. He ran toward the near sideline, but tackled before he could cross the goal line. A great effort, nonetheless. The Mustang defense quickly shut down the Seahawks to get the ball back. The Mustang's #25 had a ten yard run on first down. Two runs and an incomplete pass had the Mustangs facing fourth and three. A quarterback keeper on fourth down was successful. The Staley offense had an interception at the ten yard line on the very next down. The Seahawks brought it back to the thirty yard line.
The Mustang defense was a source to be reckoned with, and the Seahawks lost yards again on all four down before giving the ball back to Staley. The Mustangs #21 got a first down, then a fifteen yard touch down, in two plays. Once again the Mustangs went for the PAT, handed off to #42, who took it in for the one point conversion, giving the Mustangs the lead 13-0 early in the fourth quarter.
The Mustang defense, aided by a huge hit by #85, held Scoggins once again. The defense dominated Scoggins, not allowing them a first down and minimum yardage the entire game. When the Mustangs got the ball back, #31 came in for running back duties and did a great job, getting a first down and helping the Mustangs run out the clock for the 13-0 victory.

The Mustangs had a promising drive, when #19 had a good run on first down, and #7 made a pass to #17 down to the 30 yard line on third down, to give Staley a fresh set of downs. But the drive stalled out, when the Huskies shut down the running game and a pass fell incomplete. The Huskies took over on downs, and the speedy running back made quick work, taking it to the house on a 60 yard touchdown run. The Huskies were up 24-0 mid-way through the second quarter.
The Mustangs then had an interception on the next drive, and the Huskies eventually turned it into a score right before the half to go up 32-0.
The Huskies got the ball at the start of the second half, and the Mustang defense gave them a run for their money, making it difficult for them to score. The Huskies were slowly making their way down the field. Along the way there were some great tackles, by #1, #7, #17 , #23 and #52. The Huskies did manage to get to the end zone and make it a 40-0 game at the end of the third quarter.
The Mustangs received the kick off and on second and five, handed off to #9 who rushed the ball 55 yards and found the end zone to put the Mustangs on the board with six.
The Huskies wound up scoring on the next series to go up 48-6. With true Mustang spirit, Staley lined up on offense one last time and handed off to number 19 who took it the house for a 60 yard run just as the buzzer sounded. The final score was Hunt Huskies 48-Staley Mustangs 12.
The Hunt Huskies proved to be a force to be reckon with, as their 7-1 record indicates. Their offensive and defensive lines came off the ball well and they had a strong and fast running game. The Mustangs were challenged, but never gave up and had some great moments in the game. The Mustangs have one last game next Monday night. Come out and cheer on the Mustangs as the finish out their Staley football career. Good Luck, Mustangs!!!
Here are some images of the game.
]]>The Huskies had some problems on offense, getting several penalties, that backed them up. The defense held, as a fourth down pass fell incomplete. Staley took over on downs. A five yard gain on first down by #25, started the Mustang offense out on the right foot. On second down, a hand off to #21 had him run off tackle to the near side line for a good chunk of real estate. The Mustangs had first and ten on the 24 yard line. First and second downs saw no gain for the Mustangs, and third down had the Staley quarterback running out of the pocket and being tackled before he could make a pass. The Mustangs called a time out as the half was drawing to a close. On fourth down, the Staley quarterback threw down the field, but the pass was incomplete. The Huskies took over on downs, deep in their own territory with just seconds on the clock before the half. The Staley defense shut them down, and the Huskies had the lead 14-6 at the break.
The Mustangs took the kick off at the start of the second half and #25 ran it back to the Staley 40 yard line. A nice five yard run by #25 on first down, followed by a strong run by #27 gave the Mustangs a fresh set of downs. On second down, quarterback, #11 dropped back and threw a quick 15 yard strike out #15, who worked his way down to the 15 yard line. Mustang first down!! Two short runs by #25 and #27, had the Mustangs facing 3rd down and 4 to go. On the third down play, the Mustang quarterback threw a perfect pass to the end zone, into the arms of #35. Mustang touchdown!!! The score was Hunt 14- Mustangs 12. The all important PAT kick followed. Number 25 drilled it through the uprights to knot it all up at 14 with 3:50 left in the third quarter. The Mustangs put together an impressive drive to tie the game.
The Huskies and the Mustangs were battling it out, the Huskies were able to gain some yardage and even get a couple first downs. But the Mustang defense proved they were tough. On a crucial fourth down play, #29 brought down the back for a loss. Most importantly, the Mustangs took over on downs. The Huskies stopped the Mustangs and Staley had to punt.
Once again the battle was on, the Huskies would not go down without a fight, they wanted the win, just as much as the Mustangs. The Husky offense stayed the course, moving slowly and steadily down the field a little at a time. A first and ten on the 15 yard line put the Huskies within striking distance. Staley's defense responded, they buckled down and tighten up, letting them only get two yards on first down, and one on second down. Facing fourth and seven on the eleven yard line, and only seconds left in the game, the Huskies took a time out to stop the clock. After the time out, they lined up for a field goal. The ball was snapped and #11 was in the backfield in a flash and grabbed the ball out of the holder's hands before the ball had the chance to be kicked. Unfortunately, he was swarmed with Huskies and brought down before any significant yardage was gained. The Mustangs had one last hope for a miracle. They got the ball with nine seconds left on the clock and 80 yards to go. The hopes of a miracle died when the Mustang's quarterback was tackled behind the line as the buzzer sounded. The final score was Huskies 14- Mustangs 14. An all out battle, with both teams playing with determination and spirit.
The Mustangs proved what a tough team they are. After going down 14-0 quickly, the offense stepped up and showed the Mustang spirit scoring 14 unanswered points. The defense showed exactly how strong they are, shutting down the Husky offense at crucial moments to avoid a loss. These young men played a great game, never giving up and giving 100%. Congratulations Mustangs!! So proud of these boys!!!

The Mustangs lined up, handed off to #21, who brought it down to the four yard line. The Mustangs tried to score, but a fumbled snap and the Falcon defense, force them to try a field goal. The rain played havoc, making the ball slippery and it was mishandled and the Falcon offense took over. The Mustang defense held them and they punted on fourth down.
The running duo of #24 and #42 barreled through the Falcon defense for two first downs. Number 42 scored on an 8 yard run two plays later. The kicker #6 drilled it through the uprights for a Mustang 8-0 lead. The Mustangs kicked off, and the defense stuffed the Falcons. The offense got the ball back, and had #7 at quarterback. Hand offs to #24 and #3 had the Mustang gaining yardage, enough for a first down. The next couple of plays saw the Mustangs offense struggle, with two for no gain, and an incomplete pass. The next play had #7 dropped back and put the ball in the air, right into the arms on #24. Mustang first down! The Staley offense was on a roll. After a short gain on a running play, the quarterback hit #42 for a fifteen touchdown pass and the score. Another perfect kick by #6 had the Mustang lead 16-0 with nine seconds left in the half.
The start of the second half had the Mustangs getting the kick off on the thirty yard line. Number 42 bolted all the way down the the Falcon 25 yard line to set the Mustangs up with great field position. On second down, #21 slipped through some tackles and rambled his way in for a 20 yard score. Mustang kicker #6 kicked the two point PAT and the Mustangs had a commanding 24-0 lead a little over a minute into the second half.
The Mustangs defense proved to be tough, not giving up any yardage to the Falcons. The Mustangs got the ball back and had got some yards on running plays by #28, #24 and #42. But the big play came on a face mask call against the Falcons, that moved the ball all the way down to the five yard line. On second and goal a bad snap went over the Staley quarterback's head, but right into the arms of #11, who barreled his way over the goal line for a Mustang touchdown. A great heads up play! The kick was blocked and the Mustangs had an impressive 30-0 lead at the end of the third quarter.
The Mustangs kicked off to the Falcons who set up shop near their own 35 yard line. On the first play of the series, Mustang #83 hit the back behind the line a scrimmage, knocking the ball from his hands and he recovered his third fumble of the night.
The Mustangs changed things up a little and put in #2 as the running back. Number two proved proficient, running strong and getting a couple of Mustang first downs. The Mustangs had first and ten on the Falcon twenty yard line with just over a minute left in the game when the took the victory formation to run out the clock. The Mustangs had the victory 30-0.
This Mustang team, may have started off the year slowly, having to overcome obstacles, and facing great opponents. After a heart-breaking loss to Cobb, these boys step up and played some great football. The last four weeks of the season, saw great improvement and with that, success. These boys came out every game and played hard from the first tackle to the last. They played with heart and determination on every play. It has been a pleasure to watch them gain momentum as the season progressed. They were a much stronger team than their 3-4-1 record indicates. I enjoyed watching, photographing and cheering these boys on play by play. I know that these boys will come back even stronger next year. Great job Mustangs!!
Here are some images of the night.
]]>The Mustangs stuffed the Falcons on their first possession and they had to punt. The Mustangs got the ball on the thirty yard line. Another great kick had the Mustangs up 16-0 early in the second quarter.
Once again, the Mustang defense caused a fumble when #66 clocked the quarterback. Mustang #8 recovered on the Falcon 21 yard line. The Mustangs gave it right back when the ball slipped out of the quarterback's hands on the snap. The Mustang defense held and they got the ball back on downs. The Mustangs number eight ran a bootleg and took it down to the three yard line. Number nine got the hand off, slipped through some defenders and ran it in for his second touchdown of the night. A missed PAT had the Mustangs up 22-0 with just over a minute left in the half. The Falcons finally got some yardage on what seemed to be a take down in the backfield. However, they snuck the ball to another player who ran it down the field for a 25 yard gain. The defense stuffed them and the Mustangs had the lead at the break.
The Mustangs took the kick off down to the thirty yard line, but fumbled the ball two plays laeter and the Falcons recovered. The two teams traded three and outs. and the Mustangs had a booming punt that took a huge Mustang roll.
The Falcons, deep in their own territory, decided to throw the ball, the ball sailed over the receiver's head and dropped into the arms of Staley #9. Mustang ball on the twenty. The Mustang quarterback ran a sweep to the far sideline and in for the score. A slippery ball did not quite make it to the holder on the PAT. Number 4 grabbed it on the bounce, straighten up, avoided a sure tackle and threw out tho #9. Number nine tried to spin his way to the goal line but was brought down at the four. The Mustang had put the game away, 28-0, early in the fourth quarter.
The Mustang defense caused another fumble and the Mustangs ran out the clock, finishing with a victory formation, for the 28-0 win.
The Mustangs 7th Grade White Team capped off their season with a dominating win. This team finished 6-1-1. They worked well together as a team, played hard week in and week out. Their hard work and dedication were the basis for their success. Each and every Mustang contributed to the team and made the team strong. Congratulations on a fantastic season!!! I certainly enjoyed being on the sidelines, watching the games, photographing plays and cheering these boys on!! Great job Mustangs!!

The Staley Mustang team, already depleted due to injuries, had two players knocked out of the game due to injuries. Number 1, a key component of the running game, and #74 a pillar on defense were sidelined.
Killian started the second half with a good run back off the kick off. They steadily worked down field to go up 20-0, after an incomplete pass on a two point conversion. The Staley defense stayed tough and held the Killian squad for the remainder of the game.
The Staley Mustangs had a hard time on offense with several key players out with injuries. It was a regular triage on the sideline, when #17 came out of the game near the middle of the 4th quarter. The Staley Mustangs showed heart and grit as several players, stepped up and were playing in unfamiliar positions. Stay strong Mustangs!!
]]>Killian got the ball first and made the most of it. They used a good running game to move down the field and into the end zone for the score. The PAT was good and the Killain Mustangs got the first score on the board leading Staley 7-0.
The Staley Mustangs proved that they were equally strong. The running back duo of #25 and #21 were the engines of the Staley Mustang's well-oiled offense machine. The Staley Mustangs answered the Killian score with a great drive down the field. The Staley Mustangs drove down the field and handed off to #21 on the three yard line. While pushing his way into the end zone, the ball popped out and bounced on the ground, past a couple of Killian players, into the end zone and was finally cover by a Staley player for the score. The Killian offense put a good drive on, moving the ball down the field as the half drew to a close. With the ball on the sixteen yard line and under thirty seconds left in the half, the Killian quarterback took to the air. The Staley Mustang defense was tough, causing three incompletions. Killian's last hope to score before the half was diminished when #4 jumped up and reach his hand in between the receiver and the ball, the ball hit the receivers shoulder pads and the ball, and both players landed on the ground in the end zone. The Staley boys played a solid game all around for a convincing victory!! Congratulations on a fantastic win!!! Way to go Mustangs!!
]]>The Mustang offense had a little trouble getting started and went three and out. The Wranglers looked they like they were going to be a force to be reckoned with as they started out their next series with a couple strong runs and a first down. However, that changed when on the next down the quarterback dropped back, moved out of the pocket toward the far sideline, and Staley Mustang #24 gave him a crushing hit that caused the ball to pop out of the quarterback's hands. Staley #68 raced to recover. Mustangs' ball on the Wrangler 43 yard line.
The Mustangs' running game was having a hard time moving the ball against the Wrangler defense, gaining little yards through the first three plays. The Mustangs tried a fake punt, with a reverse, but that did not get enough yards for a first down. The Wranglers took over on downs as the half drew to a close. The Mustangs defense held and they were down by 7 at the half.

Another strong run by #42 and push by the offense, gave Staley a first and goal inside the ten yard line. Another couple of runs by #42, had the Mustangs creeping closer to the goal line. On third down, #42 had the ball again, and looked like he would be stopped by the swarm of Wrangler defenders, when he bounced outside the crowd and squeaked his way over the line as he was being brought down. A great kick by #6, straight through the uprights gave the Mustangs the lead 8-7. The Mustang faithful went wild. The Staley boys looked fantastic, as they put together a long, productive drive that ending in a touchdown.
A fired up Mustang defense, shut down the Wranglers to get the ball back. The Mustang's #21 took the hand off from #12, had great blocking from the line, turned the corner and took it 60 yards for the six. A failed attempted on a PAT had #12 taking a huge hit, but he got right up and was okay. The Mustangs had the lead 14-7 with five and half minutes left in the game. The Mustang fans were excited.

The Wranglers would not go down without a fight. After a booming kick off, the Wranglers got things started with a nice pass for a gain of 25 yards. On the very next play, the Wrangler's running back broke free, and scored. The Mustangs had a player injured on the play, and he was helped of the field by his team mates. Our thoughts are with him, hoping his injury is not too severe. The Wranglers lined up for the PAT, the pass from the quarterback was just off target and fell to the ground incomplete. A huge play for the Mustangs, as they had a nine point lead at 22-13 with just under a minute left.
The Wranglers tried an on side kick, but the ball was recovered by the Mustangs. The Mustangs ran two short running plays to run out the clock and get the victory, 22-13.
The Staley Mustang Blue Team played an all around excellent game, especially in the second half. They played, undoubtably the best football of the season. The Mustangs shut down the Wranglers again, to get one more possession on offense. The Mustangs gained some yardage with their running game, but the drive stalled out before getting in the end zone. The Wranglers got the ball, and tried one last time to move the ball down the field to get anywhere near the red zone. Here are some of my favorites from their session.
]]>The Frisco STARS went out on the field during half time and performed a dance routine to "Brown-Eyed Girl". They were fantastic. At the end of their dance they used their pom-poms to spell out "HOPE" and the pink ribbon for Breast Cancer Awareness.
The STARS and the rest of the Raccoon fans also got to celebrate a Frisco victory. Frisco Raccoons 34- Liberty Redhawks 7.
As always it is my pleasure to photograph these very talented, wonderful young ladies. Fantastic job tonight!!

After a time out, the Wester offense tried a new approach, the back rolled out to the far side, deep in his end zone, hoping to turn the corner and make some yardage, The Mustang defense was ready, and right there to swarm him and bring him down for a safety. Two points gave the Mustangs the lead 8-0.

The Mustangs stopped the Wildcats and took over on downs. The Mustangs were marching down the field, when one of the Wester players went down. Play was stopped due to the injury, as the officials waited for an ambulance. Not a sight any parent wants to see. The young man and his parents are in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.
Once play resumed, the Mustangs continued their drive. A couple of strong runs by #21 got the Mustangs down to the 10 yard line. With the rain coming down harder, the ball was slippery and it was mishandled, #21 fell on it for a loss back to the 16 yard line. The Wildcat defense stepped up and the Mustangs could not get any progress on the next down. On fourth down, #42 ran it straight up the middle for a large gain but it was not quite enough and the Mustangs turned it over on downs.
The Mustang defense proved how tough they are. After a gain by the Wildcats on first down, the Mustangs tackled the quarterback for a loss on second down. On third down, the Mustang defense blitzed the quarterback and wrapped him up behind the line of scrimmage. The quarterback coughed up the ball, and Staley's #40 recovered on the five yard line for a Mustang first down.
The Mustang's #42 carried the ball several times, before powering through the line for the touchdown, as time expired for the first half. A slippery ball had the holder, unable to get the ball down for the kicker, he scrambled, threw the ball to a receiver, but it was not enough to get the PAT. Mustangs had the lead 14-0. And it was half time.
I have to confess, I packed it up and headed home. The rain was coming down harder, and even with the plastic bag, and poncho, I was soaked , and my camera was in danger of getting too wet.
However, the Mustangs toughed it out and brought home the win 25-0. I wish I could have seen the celebration.
Congratulations Mustangs on a well deserved victory in unfavorable conditions!!! Way to go!!! So proud of these Staley boys!!!

The Mustang spirit was in full swing as #17 took the kickoff, avoided defenders and took it to the house for the score. A successful PAT gave the Mustangs the lead 8-6. However, that was short -lived as Griffin returned the favor and took the Mustang kick off in for a touchdown. Another missed PAT had Griffin leading 12-8.
A couple of nice runs by #5 and a twenty yard gain by #19 were not enough to sustain the Mustang drive before the half ended.
The start of the second half had the Mustang faithful thinking things were looking up, as the Gators fumbled the kick off and #19 recovered. The Mustangs set up shop around the twenty yard. On fourth down, #5 got the ball and ran down the sideline before being brought down at the three yard line. Unfortunately, the Mustangs could not punch it into the end zone.
The Gators scored three more times, one for a break through 50 yard run, one from a punt return and the last was a pick 6. On the last score, the Gator's PAT kick was short, and #5 caught it the end zone and ran it back a 100+ yards for a touchback, getting the Mustangs two points.
The Mustangs were driving down the field, with some nice plays running the ball from #1 and #5, before time ran out.
The Staley Mustangs had a tough night, not being able to capitalize on opportunities. The Mustangs fought the whole game and ended strong. Hopefully, the Mustangs can regroup and come back strong next week against Cobb. These boys can battle back, these boys do not quit!! Go Mustangs!!!
]]>
The Mustangs ran a couple of plays for short yard gains, then the quarterback #18 threw the ball out to #88, who started going down field, breaking tackles, when he was hit from behind and the ball popped out. Griffin recovered the fumble. The Mustangs defense was strong, keeping them from getting a first down. The Mustang running back #27 got things started with a run up the middle. The second play, the quarterback handed off to #8, who headed to the far sideline, and then cutting back and forth down the field to outrun the defenders and score the touchdown. The Mustangs went up 8-0.
The Mustang defense proved to be too much for the Gators, dropping them for a huge loss in their set of downs. On the very next offensive series for the Mustangs, the second play had #8 running down the sideline for 40 yards for the score. Number 25 drilled the ball through the uprights to get the PAT. The Mustangs led 16-0. The defense held and Staley got the ball back again. Number 21 came in for quarterbacking duties, and the running duties were distributed between #25 and #27 for this series. After two nice runs by the running backs, the quarterback kept the ball, headed to the sideline and gained the first down. Then the Mustangs had the quarterback fake a hand off, roll out with the ball hidden by his hip, and he threw it out to #27 who ran the ten yards for the score. The Staley boys led 22-0 at the break.
To open the second half, the Gators and Mustangs traded a set of downs. The Gators had a promising drive going, get their first, first down of the night before #21 had a pick 6. # 21 caught the ball and ran it back 70 yards for the touchdown. A successful PAT had the Mustangs put this game out of reach. 30-0. The defense held and Staley was victorious: 30-0.
The Mustangs played fantastic through out the game, using a strong running game to score thirty points. The Staley defense was outstanding, containing the Gators, getting two interceptions, one being run back for a score, and not letting the Gators anywhere near the red zone. The Mustang White Team improve to 3-0 and take on district rivals, Cobb, next week.
The highlight of the night, for me, was seeing my son get his first interception. Way to go Alex!!! Congratulations Mustangs on a great win!!!!

The third quarter started with the Griffin Gators receiving the kick off. Once again, the Mustang defense made it tough on the Gators, but they managed to make progress down the field. Great coverage by #2 had a Griffin pass broken up inside the five yard line. Unfortunately, Griffin made it into the end zone for another score, making it 22-0 after a successful PAT. A nice run back on the kick off by #19, had the Mustangs starting out on their 45 yard line. A couple of nice running plays by #21 had the Mustangs moving the ball down the field, before bad fortune struck again. The Gator defense caused a fumble and they recovered. The Staley defense was strong, hitting the running back behind the line of scrimmage on first down and holding them on second down. On third down, the Staley defense caused a fumble and #74 recovered. But three plays later, the Mustangs returned the ball to the Gators with a fumble. The Mustangs would not go down with out a fight. The Mustang defense stacked Griffin up and held them to get the ball back.
Back on offense, #12 made a couple of quick passes to #1 for short gains, before a big hit took him out of the game. That hit gave the Mustangs 15 yards and a first down. Number 10 came in to take on quarterbacking duties, finally #42 broke through, got outside broke tackles and scrambled 45 yards down the sideline for a score. Unfortunately, it was called back for a holding penalty. The game ended with #42 taking the hand off and trying to break tackles, but being brought down as time expired.
The Mustangs had a tough night, but had some highlights with good running plays and some good defense. Despite the score, the Staley boys fought hard and never gave up.
Great Job Mustangs!!!
Here are some images of the night.

The Mustang offense went three and out and punted. The Mustangs pushed the Gators back, and got great field position following the Griffin punt. The Staley quarterback tossed the ball to #35 who ran it in for six, just before the half. The Mustang PAT was good and they had the lead 8-0.
The start of the second half, the Griffin quarterback was quickly intercepted by #14, who returned it for about 15 yards. Unfortunately, the Mustangs could not capitalize. A couple of plays later, the Staley running back, got hit, the ball was stripped and the Gators recovered. Once again the Mustang defense shut down the Gators. The Mustang quarterback, #8 took over and connected with #45 on a fifteen yard pass. A couple of plays later, #13 broke a couple of tackles to take it in for the score. A missed PAT, and the Mustangs led 14-0.
The Mustangs kicked off with a low line drive, that hit the leg of one of the Griffin players, bounced back to the Mustang line, and #35 quickly fell on the ball for a fumble recovery. Staley #4, in at quarterback made a quick pass to #86, who ran for a good chunk of real estate, before being brought down. Two plays later, #13 broke through some tackles to take it in for another 6. Staley Mustangs were winning 22-0 with 5:40 left in the game.
The Staley defense pushed the Gators back on three consecutive plays, for a huge loss, facing 4th and a bus ride, the Gators went for it. The Mustang defender #66, who had a great night, chased the quarterback in the backfield and brought him down for another loss. The Mustangs took over on downs inside the ten yard line. On first down, #9 took the hand off, ran to the far sideline, side-stepped some defenders and was across the goal line for another Staley touchdown. The PAT was good for a Mustang 30-0 score with just under three minutes left. The Mustang's defense held and that was the final score. Staley Mustangs 30, Griffin Gators 0.
All in all, a great game by the Staley boys. The offense was well balanced with successful passes and great runs. The defense was stellar, keeping the Gators from getting any significant yards on offense.
Congratulations, super job Mustangs!!!

]]>On the Spartans first down, they handed off to their running back #22, who broke numerous tackles to take it about 50 yards down the field for a touchdown. The Spartans lead 16-6.
The Spartans defense held the Mustangs and they went three and out. The Spartans handed off to another running back who dodged defenders to run down the sideline, before a sliding, touchdown saving tackle by #1 took him down on the ten yard line. The Spartans eventually cross the goal line, a missed PAT made the game 22-6.
The Mustangs looked like they were ready to make a game of it, when #5 took the hand off and sped down the field for a 50 yard touchdown. The Mustangs missed the PAT, so the scored was 22-12.
The Spartans ran away with the game from there, scoring twice more before the half. Making the score 38-12 at the break. The Spartans defense stripped the ball from the Mustangs receiver on the kick off and returned it for a touchdown. Increasing the score 46-12. A big hit on the Mustang quarterback in next series resulted in a fumble for the Mustangs, which the Spartans recovered. The Spartans scored two plays later, and kicked the ball through the uprights for a 54-12 score.
The Mustangs put together a nice series with good runs from #22, #19 and #5. Mustangs running back #5 scored for the third time, as he scampered into the end zone on a 20 yard touchdown run. A hand off to #5, who ran it straight into the end zone for the PAT, made the score 54-19.
The Mustangs, who already has a couple players out of the line up due to injury, had two more players taken out during the game. Our kicker was run into on a PAT, and #1 suffered an injury to his hand on a defensive play. The Mustangs had a tough night containing the Spartan offense.
Hopefully the Mustangs can field a healthy team and come back strong next week against Griffin. Go Mustangs!!

Not to be out done, the Spartans scored a minute later on a break away 59 yard run. Their PAT put two points on the board and we were all tied up. After trading a set of downs. The Mustangs had some shorts runs by the duo of #25 and 8, when finally #8 cut to the outside. to the sideline and out ran the defenders, for a 40 yard touchdown. After a successful PAT kick, the Mustangs took a 16-8 lead with just under a minute left in the half.
Coming back from half time the Spartans received the kick off and their offense was gaining some yardages, when their running back took the hand off, broke some tackles and ran down the field for a 50 yard touchdown. Another successful PAT had the Mustangs and the Spartans tied at 16 all.
The Spartans' defense was strong on the next series, and the Mustangs were facing a fourth and long play. The quarterback tossed it ten yards to #88 who ran for another 10 yards, giving the Mustangs new life. The Mustang backs #8 and #25 brought us down inside the ten yard line, and #8 trotted in for the score. A missed PAT gave the Mustangs a 6 point lead: 22-16.
The next two series showed off how strong both defenses were. The Mustangs dropped the Spartans for losses in their three and out. The Spartans then contained the Mustangs for their three and out. The hit of the night came on the Spartans' punt return. The receiver fielded the ball and headed to the near sideline, when Staley's #40 delivered a walloping blow that sent the receiver flying out of bounds. A collected "OHHHH", could be heard from the stands. That pretty much deflated the Spartans, and the Staley defense knocked them back for consecutive losses. The Mustangs got the ball back one last time. The Mustang offense took the ball about 20 yards downfield, before just running out the clock by taking a knee. Final score Mustangs 22-Spartans 16.
The Mustang running game behind backs, #8, #9, and #25, proved to be successful. That along with a couple of passes, and strong defense was the key to this victory. The Mustangs played physical on both sides of the ball, and improved their record to 2-0. Great job Mustangs!!!

A good return on the kick off, set the Huskies up on a short field. They steadily marched down the field to another score. The Huskies led 20-8 with 1:28 left in the half. The last minute and half, before the break proved to be exciting. The Huskies kicked off, and on Staley's first down, #19 once again got the ball in the back field, cut right, and out ran the Hunt defense for sixty yards. The roar of the Staley crowd filled the air, as the Mustangs closed the gap 20-16. However the excitement was not over. Hunt's offense quickly scored again, and with Staley blocking the PAT, the Huskies took a 26-16 lead to halftime.
At the start of the third quarter, Hunt showed how tough they were, taking the kick off in for a touchdown. The score was 34-16. The Mustangs tried to generate some offense, and had a good drive going midway through the third quarter. The highlight of the drive was a 15 yard pass from #19 to a wide open #11. However, the Hunt defense proved to be tough and the Mustangs' drive stalled out. Hunt continued to be aggressive on offense, scoring at the start of the fourth quarter and driving down the field at the end of the game, before taking a knee to run out the clock. Hunt Huskies 40- Staley Mustangs 16 was the final.
The Staley Mustangs showed spirit and character, playing hard all four quarters. Even though the Mustangs had a rocky start to the season, I am sure that the will come back stronger and better next week. Good job Mustangs!!
Here are some images of the game.
]]>The second half was a carbon copy of the first half. Both offenses struggled to gain any yards against the strong defenses. Staley had a sack that stalled a promising Hunt drive midway through the fourth quarter. Staley's pass defense provided critical coverage at the end of the game as the Huskies attempt to score on a passing play was thwarted by the Mustangs. The game ended in a 0-0 tie.
The Staley Mustangs gave a good effort, especially on defense, in the scoreless outing. Undoubtedly, with more playing time, the Mustangs will get more in tune on offense, and move the ball down the field. Good job Mustangs!!
Here are some images of the night.

After both teams traded possessions with no score, the Mustangs got the go ahead score on a 35 yard touchdown run by #5. After a successful PAT, the Mustangs had the lead 14-6. On the Seahawks second down, the Staley Mustangs were pushing the running back backwards for a loss, when #5 stripped the ball out and ran it back for a touchdown. The Mustangs had the lead 20-6. After the following kick off, the Seahawks had a pretty good run on first down, and were trying to break through the swarm of Staley defenders, when the ball was fumbled. Staley's #5 quickly picked up the ball, and ran it back for another touchdown. Back to back touchdowns by the Mustang defense within two minutes. Staley took the 26-6 lead to halftime.
Staley opened up the second half, marching down the field for another score. Scoggins trailed 32-6. Scoggins had two very good possessions to get two touchdowns. With just under six minutes left in the game, the Seahawks trailed by a score of 32-18. The Seahawks were trying to make a game of it, when Staley's #22 had an interception with less than a minute to go. Staley lined up and gave to #5 who raced 60 yards for the final score. Staley rolled to victory 38-18.
The Staley Mustangs started out the year strong with a convincing win. They have a talented team and should have a great season!! Good job boys!!! Go Mustangs!!
]]>The Staley defense was tough, getting to the Seahawks quickly and wrapping them up for losses. The Mustangs were moving the ball down the field right before the half. After breaking a tackle, the quarterback made a quick 5 yard pass to #88 who ran it down to the 5 yard line before being shoved out of bounds. After a penalty, a run up the middle for little yardage, and a time out, the Staley quarterback again found success on a short yardage pass to #88, who was stopped just short of the goal line with less than 15 seconds left in the half. After another time out by Staley, to stop the clock, our quarterback lined up under center to take the snap and he dove in for the touchdown. The PAT was good and Staley took a 14-0 lead to half time.
Staley received the kick off after half time. The Scoggins defense had made adjustments and Staley was soon facing a fourth down and five on their own 38 yard line. A short pass and run yardage was just enough for a Mustang first down. A couple of plays later, #40 took the pitch from the quarterback and head toward the sideline to cut up field, when the Scoggins defense shut that down, #40 cut back the other way and scampered down the opposite sideline until he was brought down at the eight yard line. Staley could not capitalize on the opportunity as the Scoggins defense held, a pass was incomplete on fourth down.
Scoggins took over on downs on their own 14 yard line. However, Staley's defense was strong, holding them to no gain on first down. On second down our defense was quickly in the back field, causing a fumble at the five yard line, which the Mustangs recovered. The Mustangs ran one play for little or no gain, and the third quarter ended, with Staley pretty much having possession the entire time. The first play of the fourth quarter had #27 taking a hand off and running about 5 yards for the Stale touchdown. The PAT was missed and Staley had the lead 20-0.
After taking the kick off, the Scoggins Seahawks had a big run down of about 30 yards down to the twenty five yard line. After recovering there own fumble, their running back turned the corner, ran down the sideline to score. Scoggins were on the board with a score of 20-7 after a successful PAT.
Both Staley and Scoggins went three and out on their next possessions. Staley got the ball back with about a minute left, ran a couple of plays to run out the clock and preserve the win 20-7.
Overall the Staley Mustangs played great on both sides of the ball. They are off to a good start. The offense moved down the field with steady progress. The defense was impressive, reigning in the Seahawks through out the game. Hopefully, this is the start of a great season. Great job Staley Mustangs!!!

]]>The Mustangs C Team had some good serves and played stronger in the second game. The Staley Lady Mustangs played well but could not overcome the strong serving and hitting of the Falcons and lost in two straight sets.
The Lady Mustangs B team started slow, losing the first game to the Lady Falcons, but came on strong in the second game with great serving and hits to win that one. The third game was a thrilling battle all the way to the end. Both teams played hard and the game was evenly matched. The Lady Mustangs fought very hard and played with intensity, but fell short of the victory, losing the third game 25-22.
The Lady Mustangs A team responded well after a tough first game loss. Staley looked strong, serving the ball really well, and having some good hits, as well as a couple of blocks. The team played solidly and kept up with the powerful Falcons but came up short, falling 25-20 in the second game.
I am hoping to watch and photograph a couple more Staley Mustang Volleyball games and will cover the 7th Grade teams next time.
The Lady Mustangs play in the FISD tournament this weekend. Good Luck!!

The Freshman B team played their very first game tonight. The Raccoon fans saw glimpses of what this team is capable of, and how exciting the season can be. The Freshman B team played well, but fell to the Lady Rangers of Naaman Forest 2-1. One hundred and eighty galleries, that is 180+ different games, partial games or events. A lot of them, were games one of my kids played in, as Alex played five sports for Staley Middle School and Katie played four sports for Frisco High School. However, many were games and events that my kids did not participate in. I am so fortunate, blessed and lucky to be able to be down on the sidelines, and track that I take photos whenever I can, mainly because it is something I love.
So here are some of my thoughts, from the heart. I feel so fortunate to live in Frisco, we have some of the best coaches right here in Frisco, not just at Staley and Frisco High, but district wide. We also have some amazing and talented athletes, again, not exclusive to Staley and Frisco High, but throughout the district. I am impressed, not only by their athleticism, but their overall character. They are respectful, kind and caring. I have seen our athletes win and lose, always with grace and dignity. I have seen the bonds of friendship form, withstand and even flourish despite zoning boundaries. I have seen the athletes cheer for their fellow athletes in the district, I have seen the hugs and back slaps after inter district games. I have seen one school team, support other school teams. I have seen coaches helping other coaches, in their school, and others in the district. I have seen parents cheer for their friend's children, and their children's friends. I can tell you it is a beautiful, heart warming site to see these athletes from different schools interact after a game. I love how Frisco can still have that small town feel even after thirteen middle schools and six high schools, with two more high schools in the building and planning stages.
The other thing I know, is that I love photographing sports. I love being able to capture the action of the game, the volleys and spikes of volleyball; the catches and touchdowns of football; the jumps and shots of basketball; the endurance of cross country; the jumps, speed and all out sprints of track; the headers, passes and goals of soccer; and the hits and plays of softball. I love being able to capture the split second of the ball and the player together, a moment of action, a micro clip of the game, a moment of success. I find it a privilege to try to capture some of the moments in these young athletes lives. I have been so very blessed to meet awesome athletes, coaches, and parents that I would otherwise not have had the opportunity to meet. This ties back to Frisco having that small town feel.
By far, the one thing that I love the most about photographing sports, is the emotions. Through every minute of every match, meet, and game I am emotionally invested. Not just the ones my kids are playing in, but every single one. I am emotionally tied to Staley Middle School and Frisco High School. Being down on sidelines, close to the actions, I feel the emotions. I have been able to witness/photograph some amazing events this year. Looking back, the ones that I remember the most are the ones that brought out the biggest emotions. The on field/court celebrations, the jumps of joy, the hugs and the tears. This is what warms my heart and bring tears to my eyes. This is what I love.
Here are some of those moments.
Frisco High School:
Varsity Football's unexpected homecoming win against Wakeland.
Varsity Volleyball's come from behind wins against Cedar Hill and Prosper.

8th Grade A Team Boys Basketball's amazing last second win against Pioneer.

7th Grade Boys District Cross Country Meet where the boys took home second place.
7th Grade Boys Soccer's exciting win over Cobb.
7th Grade Boys Soccer's heartbreaking loss to Wester on PK's in the District Tournament.
As I photograph each event, I try to not only capture the action, but the emotion, because that is what makes it real, that is what we feel, what we remember. Thinking back through these events, I know I shared all the emotions that the players and parents were feeling. I have been know to shed a few tears on the sidelines, for the excitement, the intensity, the heartbreak and the joy. I know that through all the hours, the cold, the heat, the excitement, the intensity, the tears, the heartbreak, and the joy, I have loved every single minute of it and would do it all again in a heartbeat.
In closing, I wish I could have made more events, yes, believe it or not, more. More Staley volleyball, girls basketball and 8th grade football and basketball. More Frisco High basketball, boys soccer, softball and baseball. As a parent, I have loved watching my son play his first football and basketball game. All the sports, as it was his first school affiliated games. And also my daughter running in the state cross country meet, and all her firsts for high school. These are special moments. My hope is that, through my photography, I have given other parents a special memory of their children.
To the Frisco High School and Staley Middle School coaches, thank you for always making me feel welcome.
To the Frisco High School and Staley Middle School athletes, it is an honor and privilege to watch, photograph and get to know you, thank you for making my year so wonderful. I loved every minute of it.

Thanks for the memories.

Thank you for all the support, it was truly an awesome year, and I can't wait until next year!
]]>In the second half, Staley once again, buckled down on defense and the offense became more aggressive, the Mustangs controlled the pace of the game and attacked, keeping the ball on the Gator's side of the field. Halfway through, it finally paid off as, Bryce was tripped up at the ten yard sideline, Austin was given the penalty kick. Austin boomed it across the field, over the head of the goalie into the net. The Mustangs were only down by one. After the Mustangs had some shots on goal, one shot, by Travis, going just wide, the Gators were able to clear the ball. The ball was passed up from mid field, and the incredibly fast Gator forward, in a dead sprint, outran the Staley defenders and put one passed the keeper. The Gators were again, up by two with just about eleven minutes left in the game.
Not to be disheartened, the Mustangs stayed strong and kept fighting. The Mustangs were intense, and unrelenting. They were moving the ball up the field with control and great passing, Austin to Trent, Trent to Travis, then Travis dribbled and nailed a shot passed the out stretched arms of the keeper, and into the goal. Once again the Mustangs were only down by one with just under five minutes to play. The Mustangs continued the attack, keeping the ball on the Gator's side. A kick by Austin, had the hearts of the Staley supporters thumping as it headed toward the goal, but it hit the post and bounce back onto the field. The Gators were playing with the same intensity, as Staley continued the pressure. As the game clock was winding down, the Gators were called for pushing. A last ditch effort on a penalty kick was not to be as the buzzer sounded before the Mustangs had a chance to give the ball a boot.
Final score Gators 3-Mustangs 2. A valiant effort by the Mustangs that fell just short.
Overall, the Mustangs stepped up and faced the pressure by playing three of the very best, complete games they have played all season. All though two games were not the outcome they wanted, the Mustangs showed up and played strong with solid contributions from all the players in all the matches. The Mustangs played both the number one and number two seeds in the district, one to a tie, the other to a very close, one score loss. I think given another few minutes the Mustangs would have tied that game. There were many great moments on both sides of the ball, with great goals, stellar defense and amazing saves in the frame. This Mustang team, which took home fourth place in the district, played with heart and spirit. They should be very proud of the way they played. I know that I am super proud of this team. Thank you to the high school boys who volunteered their time to help these boys. Congratulations on a awesome tournament and fantastic season. I can't wait until next year. Way to go Mustangs!!
P.S. Special thanks to my better half as he took some photos from the stands in the first half, as I was attending another event. Thanks!!!

The second half opened up with Staley being more aggressive. They played hard and took the ball down the field, several times. The Staley defense dug in, that, along with the excellent play of the goal keeper, kept the Wildcats out of the net. The Mustangs really picked it up after one of the team's top defenders went down with an injury. After some great defense, the ball was sent up the field, which Travis touched the ball over to Austin, who staved off two defenders, then crossed the ball hard into the goal at the midway mark of the second half. That was the turning point, the Mustangs were on fire. The last fifteen minutes, the Staley Mustangs played the best they have played all season. They played with grit, determination and heart. Staley's offense attacked and had several very close calls and the defense made some stellar saves. With two minutes left in the game, Austin took a sideline pass, and drilled it into the net from 30 yards out. The game was tied 2-2. The Staley fans were elated. The tension and excitement was high as the Staley boys tried with all their might to get the game winning goal before the end of regulation. Unfortunately, the shots did not get past the keeper. So, it came down to PK's. The Mustangs had one kick blocked, while the Wildcats had 5 of theirs go to the back of the net.
While the scoreboard showed a 7-5 final score, the Staley Mustangs did not lose the game, they were just outscored. The boys played the best team in the district and in the second half dominated the game. They held the Wildcats scoreless for three quarters of the game. It was a grueling, physical game for the Mustangs. They overcame adversity and played a great game of soccer. The Mustangs went on to play in the consolation game at 11:30.

]]>The Staley 7th Grade Girls Soccer Team fell 5-0 to a strong Cobb Team last night. The Lady Cyclones scored in the first seven minutes, but the Lady Mustangs kept them out of the net again for most of the remaining first half. Cobb scored with fifteen seconds left in the half to take a 2-0 lead into the break. Cobb came out aggressive in the second half adding two more goals very quickly. The Lady Mustangs buckled down and played tough, with some great defense and also some fantastic saves by the goal keeper. Staley took several shots on goal, but were not successful in getting one by the keeper. Cobb added one last goal with ten minutes left in the game to go up 5-0. Despite the lose, the girls put forth a great effort and stayed focused the entire game. Great job, Lady Mustangs!! Good luck next week.

]]>It was also Senior Night, the Lady Raccoons Seniors were honored, being introduced and escorted out to the field by their parents. What a great honor. Good luck in your future endeavors, ladies.
The Lady Raccoons had a tough night against a talented, well coached Lady Eagle team. The Lady Raccoons played tough and kept it close through five innings, allowing one run each in the second and fourth innings. However, the top of the sixth inning had the Lady Eagles getting some hits, combined with a few errors by the Lady Raccoons, led to four runs scoring. The Lady Raccoons would not quit, they got a few hits of their own and scored a run in the bottom of the sixth. The top of the seventh inning, the Lady Raccoon shut down Prosper, getting a strike out and a foul ball being caught by the catcher for the last out. The Lady Raccoons came to bat one last time and put a runner on base, but it was not enough as the game ended with the Lady Eagles taking the victory.
The Lady Raccoons will start playoffs next week. Good Luck Lady Raccoons!!!
]]>These young ladies can hold their heads high as they are the District JV Champions!!! Congratulations on fantastic season!!

]]>The Mustangs stayed strong and fought hard. The Mustangs kept pressing and it paid off with a game tying goal by Austin with ten minutes left. The scored was tied 3-3. The Staley crowd was pumped. The Huskies did not make it easy playing hard right down to the wire. With less than a minute left Travis drove down the side line and passed to the middle. Trent was in the right place at the right time and played it perfectly. The Mustangs took the lead with 21 seconds left. The crowd and the Staley bench went wild. It was an exciting game with a great finish.
Congratulations Mustangs!!! Way to Go!!

]]>This team was strong and fierce all season long. There were many shining moments throughout the season led by team captains, Kailee, Jordan and Lauren. There was a great come from behind 5-3 win against Hockaday, a 2-0 win against Plano, a dominating 7-0 victory over Little Elm, district opener 8-0 win over Heritage and a first round 3-1 play off win over Prosper.
This team was successful by all accounts. Success requires so many elements: hard work, commitment, perseverance, determination, skill, and experience. This Lady Raccoon Varsity team possessed all of these and more. One more key element: team unity. These young ladies worked well together. These ladies put together an impressive and successful season.
I have enjoyed watching and photographing this group of Lady Raccoons. They are outstanding young ladies, role models, and leaders. They took the field, played with confidence and strived for excellence. They played with heart, always had a positive attitude and never gave up. They played with composure and dignity, winning and losing with grace.
Congratulations on a stellar season, and I look forward to next year's season.
Here are some of my favorite images from the Varsity team's season.
]]>I have been so fortunate to be able to be on the sidelines to capture the images of the game. It is not always just the action of the game that inspires me, but seeing these young ladies go out and put forth their best effort, the opportunity to capture a moment of success, the camaraderie, the emotions. It has been a wonderful experience of not only watching my daughter and her team mates athletic events, but to see them interact and form the bonds of friendship. These young ladies are winners in every sense of the word. They are leaders and role models. I am so happy that Katie was part of this team and able to share so many memories together. I will miss seeing this team every week, and hope to be back on the sidelines next year.
Here are a few of my favorite images from the season.
Thanks for the memories.

The Lady Raccoons came out on the field in the second half with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. The Raccoons kept pressing and had several shots on goal. Maddie added another goal with 23 minutes left in the game to give Frisco the 2-0 lead. Prosper would not go down without a fight. They applied pressure and move the ball down toward their goal. Prosper scored with 18 minutes left, off a header from a corner kick, to close the gap 2-1.
The Lady Raccoons picked up the pace and responded less than ten minutes later with a goal that put them up 3-1. Kailee headed the ball in, off a corner kick. Frisco played smart the last ten minutes to bring home the victory.
The Lady Raccoons were determined and focused and it showed. Congratulations ladies on your well deserved victory!!!
Here are a few of my favorite images from the game.
]]>The first race of the day, the JV two mile, Frisco's three runners put in strong performances. Frisco took second, third and fourth in a field of about twenty girls. Frisco also fielded JV and Varsity 4x800 teams. The JV 4x800 team put in an excellent performance with a convincing second place finish.
The Varsity 4x800 race was the most exciting race of the day. The girls all ran great times in moving up through out the race. Frisco went from fourth, to third, to second as the race progressed. The end came down to a battle for second place between Frisco and Legacy , with Frisco coming away with second place behind Highland Park.
Other highlights of the meet were long jump, JV shot put, JV 400, and JV 1600.
It was great seeing several teammates participating in their first track meet of the season, having been sidelined with injuries. Congratulations to Kamryn, Katie C. and Andrea for great performances in the 4x800, 100 & 300 hurdles, 400, and the 1600. While you have been instrumental in helping and encouraging your teammates so far this season, it was great to see you all out on the track running strong.
