The Staley Mustangs 8th Grade Football White Team played the final game of their Staley career last night.  The Stlaey Mustangs, with the record of 6-1-1 took on the Scoggins Seahawks (6-2).  Scoggins got the opening kick off and had a nice run back, to the 50 before being pushed out of bounds by #33.  Staley's powerful defense, stopped the Seahawks on four straight downs for a loss of yards.  Mustangs took over on downs.  The running duo of #25 and #21 got the Mustangs a couple first downs, but the drive stalled out on the 35 yard line.  The Mustang defense, once again, drove Scoggins back on four consecutive downs.  The Mustangs had first and ten on the 24 yard line, a run on first down got them about four yards, however, on second down, the Mustang gave the ball back to the Seahawks on an interception.  Mustang defense, dominated and stopped Scoggins again to regain possession.   The Mustang running game, was having a tough time getting the first down and a holding call on third down backed the Mustangs up.  Another loss of yards on third down, had the Mustangs facing 4th and 15.  Quarterback #11 threw out to the far sideline to #33 who made the catch, but was not able to get the yardage need for the first down.  Scoggins got the ball back, got stopped on two downs as the half came to a  close, with a scoreless tie.

The second half started off with a bang, as #25 took the kick off and took it to the house for the score.  The team lined up for the PAT and handed the ball to #42.  He ran toward the near sideline, but tackled before he could cross the goal line.  A great effort, nonetheless.  The Mustang defense quickly shut down the Seahawks to get the ball back.  The Mustang's #25 had a ten yard run on first down.  Two runs and an incomplete pass had the Mustangs facing fourth and three.  A quarterback keeper on fourth down was successful.  The Staley offense had an interception at the ten yard line on the very next down.  The Seahawks brought it back to the thirty yard line.

The Mustang defense was a source to be reckoned with, and the Seahawks lost yards again on all four down before giving the ball back to Staley.  The Mustangs #21  got a first down, then a fifteen yard touch down, in two plays.   Once again the Mustangs went for the PAT, handed off to #42, who took it in for the one point conversion, giving the Mustangs the lead 13-0 early in the fourth quarter.

The Mustang defense, aided by a huge hit by #85, held Scoggins once again. The defense dominated Scoggins, not allowing them a first down and minimum yardage the entire game.   When the Mustangs got the ball back, #31 came in for running back duties  and did a great job, getting a first down and helping the Mustangs run out the clock for the 13-0 victory.
