Staley Boys Soccer played Fowler Middle School at Memorial Stadium. Both the Staley Mustangs 7th and 8th Grade teams played well. The 7th grade team played tough and kept Fowler scoreless. However, the Mustangs could not get one to go in the net for them. The game ended in a scoreless tie. This year, regular season tie games go to Penalty Kicks to decide a winner. Staley's goalie did a fabulous job, stopping one. Unfortunately, the Fowler goalie was able to stop two Staley kicks from hitting the back of the net. The Mustangs 7th Grade Team fell to Folwer 4-3 on penalty kicks.
The 8th grade boys played great, scoring first when Trent booted one into the back of the net. Fowler scored one to tie it up a few minutes later. The Mustangs added one more with 22 seconds left in the half as Austin kicked one in. The Mustangs fought hard the second half, but could not get one past Folwer's keeper. Fowler tied the game when their player tapped the ball in off a corner kick. The rest of the game had several attempts by both teams. The Staley fans thought they had one more, when Austin kick one, and it came off the hands of the goalie and it looked like Travis was going to be able to kick it in, but it hit the side of the net. The game ended in a 2-2 tie, and the game was decided on Penalty Kicks. The Mustangs did a great job, but it was not meant to be as they fell 7-5. The Mustang teams played tough and determined. Way to go boys!! Stay strong! Good Luck next week.
