The Staley Mustangs 7th Grade White Team hosted Cobb on this beautiful fall evening.  The Staley boys looked good against a fairly matched Cobb team.  The Mustangs took the punt and got very little yards on some runs, they turned it over on downs to the Cyclones.  The Cyclones had very little success, with their running back getting dropped in the back field for a loss on first down, followed by two incomplete passes.  Cobb had to punt.  Staley put points on the board first as #13 carried the ball for long yardage and a touch down after taking the hand off from quarterback #4.  Staley took the early lead 6-0 with less than a minute left in the first quarter.  The Cobb Cyclones were trying to gain some momentum and move the ball down the field when #89 stepped in front of the Cobb receiver and picked off the throw.  He brought it back ten yards before being brought down.   Unfortunately, Staley was not able to capitalize and had to punt.  Staley took a 6-0 lead to the break.

The Cyclones took the second half kick off and slowly and steadily marching down the field with short yard gains, and the help of the entie offense pushing the  running back forward.  Cobb's offense ate up the whole third quarter on the way to a touchdown. Cobb's offense opted for a running play for the PAT, but fell short of the end zone.  The scored was knotted at 6.

The Staley Mustangs took the kick off and set up shop on their 30 yard line.  On first down, the quarterback toss out to #13 who took it the distance for a touchdown.  The Staley crowd went wild.  A missed PAT had the score 12-6.  Cobb, faced a fired up defense on their set of downs.  The Mustang defense stopped the Cyclones twice in a row for no gain.  On third down, with no luck in the running game, the quarterback threw up the middle,  right into the arms of the Mustang's #14, who was brought down almost immediately.

Unfortunately, the Mustangs could not capitalize on their good fortune, and had to punt the ball away.  Cobb repeated the process with three and out, and punt.  The Mustangs' #33 fielded the punt and took it all the to the end zone for what was to be six points.  Too bad a penalty had it called back. The Staley Mustangs could not get enough momentum to convert, and punted one more time to the Cyclones.  The defense held the Cyclones one last time to preserve the win 12-6.

All in all a great game by the Staley Mustangs.  Congratulations on a hard fought win, Mustangs!!!
