The Staley Mustangs 7th grade boys soccer team took the field tonight in the first round of the District Tournament.  The Staley Mustangs, seeded fifth, played the Fowler Falcons who were seeded fourth.  This was probably the most important game of the season.  It was win or go home.  The Staley boys knew this was a big game and played accordingly.  They came out aggressive, moving the ball right down the field.  Travis took a pass from ten yards out, and shot it right past the goalkeeper, four minutes into the game.  The Mustangs continued to press and kept the goalie very busy with many shots on goal.  Not to be left out, the defense stayed tough, keeping Fowler away from the net.   Staley took the 1-0 lead to half time.  The second half  started with the Mustangs still being aggressive and keeping the ball in front of the goal.  The Staley defense countered every Falcon attack, while the Staley keeper  made some amazing saves.  The Mustangs added a goal with ten minutes left in the game, when Austin took a pass from Trent, 35 yards out, and just drove it into the net.  The Mustangs fans felt they had a little breathing room.   Staley did everything right as they used their aggression, teamwork and determination to wear down Fowler as the minutes ticked off the clock.  The game ended with a Mustang victory, 2-0.   The Mustangs take on Wester Middle School in Round 2 at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.  Fantastic job Mustangs and Good Luck in tomorrows games!!!
