The Staley Mustangs 8th grade Boys Soccer team dominated the Stafford Spartans last night, winning 5-0, by controlling the play throughout the game.  The first score came off a pass from John Arthur to Theo.  Theo took the pass and headed to the goal and angled one right past the goalie, three and half minutes into the game.  The second goal, six minutes later,  came off  Luis's free kick from 25 yards out.  Luis , from the sideline, sailed the ball perfectly over the goalies' head into the corner of the net.  The third goal came as the Spartan and Mustangs took the ball back and forth, Nathan took a pass, about ten yards out, dodged two defenders and put the ball into the goal to expand the lead. The Mustangs kept the pressure on, and Luis's corner kick was headed in beautifully by Johnny.  The Mustangs took a 4-0 lead to the break.   The Mustangs came out in the second half equally aggressive.  They controlled the pace of the game, taking several shots on goal, but without success.  A header by Johnny going just wide, Nathan barely missing  a header, and a couple saves by the Spartan keeper, kept the game at 4-0.  The final score of the game came midway through the second half, when Luis kicked one over the goalie's head, from 15 yards out.  The Mustangs played an even game of steady offense and strong defense.  That combined with Mustang keeper's success in the goal, resulted in a resounding 5-0 win.  Congratulations on a great win!  Way to go Mustangs!!!
