The Staley Mustang 8th Grade Girls Soccer Team defeated the Cobb Cyclones 1-0 last night in a tough battle.  The Lady Mustangs had a steady offense that kept pressing up the field.  The Mustangs took many shots on goal, the the lone score came when the Cobb goal keeper came out on the attack and Staley's forward kicked the ball past her into the back of the net with 50 seconds left in the half.  The Mustangs came out in the second half determined to hang on to the lead.  However, Cobb was equally aggressive and their offense was tough, making it well matched battle.  The Mustangs played tough defense and the keeper had some amazing saves throughout the game.  The crowd was on the edge of their seats as the Lady Cyclones had the ball in front of the net trying to score for the last several minutes of the game.   The Lady Mustangs deserve a lot of credit for their tenacity and toughness.  The team played solid offense and stellar defense against one of the best teams in the district to gain the victory.  Congratulations to all the girls on a great overall team effort and a victory!!
