The Staley Mustangs took the field tonight against the Stafford Spartans.  The Mustangs and Spartans played hard and were tough.  The teams seem evenly matched.  The Spartans scored early in the first quarter but it was called back due to a penalty. The rest of the first half they traded sets of downs and at half time it was a scoreless tie.   To start the second half, the Spartans took the ball and marched down the field to score.  The Mustangs stopped them on the PAT.  The Spartans had a 6-0 lead, early in the third quarter. The  Mustangs had a promising drive cut short by an interception.  The Mustangs stopped the Spartans and got the ball back.  The Mustangs had a nice run by #13 and another nice run by #9 to give the Mustangs the ball inside the red zone.  The Staley quarterback got the ball, ran left, cut in and scored the game tying touchdown, with 39 second left in the game.  The crowd held their breath as Staley kicked the PAT.  The kick was good and the Mustangs took the lead 8-6.  Staley defense shut down a desperate Spartan offense to preserve the win.  Mustang 8- Spartans 6 in a very exciting game.  Way to go Mustangs!!!
